Dayo Wong Holds New Stand-Up Comedy Show
Dayo Wong (黃子華) is currently holding his stand-up comedy show at the Hong Kong Coliseum. The 11-day talk show, titled Absurd is Normal, was sold out immediately upon its announcement, breaking many ticket sale records in Hong Kong. Dayo is credited for bringing stand-up comedy to Hong Kong in the 1990s, and he has been holding critically and commercially successful stand-up gigs ever since.
Known for his unique perspectives on philosophy and politics, the 54-year-old did not disappoint at his latest show. Speaking about recent sensitive topics, he brought up Occupy Central and criticized the government for “hitting the kids”.
Dayo also joked about the relationships between men and women, comparing them to the Diaoyu Islands and Do Min Joon, famously portrayed by Kim Soo Hyun (金秀賢) in the South Korean television drama My Love from the Star <來自星星的你>. He said, “Men can only think, ‘Save the Diaoyu Islands. Capture Sora Aoi (蒼井空).’ In a woman’s heart, she can only think of Do Min Joon. He is a 400-year-old alien. He has 400 years of wisdom and wealth. He has the maturity of a 400-year-old, the face of a 17-year-old, and more importantly, he has superpowers. Also, he can’t get in contact with other’s bodily fluids. Once he kisses he’ll get a stroke. He can’t have sex all day.”
The comedian also shared a fairly recent “sexual experience” he had a bar. He said he went for a drink to relieve stress, but in less than ten seconds, women around him were already giving him suggestive hand signals, hinting for sex. He said, “From her gestures I felt like she wanted me in the fighting arena, asking me to go for it. She wanted to test how much I got. Not only are women capturing men alive; they also want to chop them into pieces and let out their blood.”
Many celebrity friends went to support Dayo at his show, including Carol Cheng (鄭裕玲), William So (蘇永康), Francis Ng (吳鎮宇), Cheung Tat Ming (張達明), Ronald Cheng (鄭中基), Chilam Cheung (張智霖), and Eason Chan (陳奕迅).
