“Detective Chinatown 3” Films in Tokyo
The well-received Detective Chinatown <唐人街探案> film franchise returns with a third and last sequel that is expected to open during Lunar New Year 2020. The first film was a surprise hit when it was first released, and Detective Chinatown 2 proved even more successful with 3 billion yuan in box office sales and climbed to the tops ranks of the most successful Chinese films of all time. The third installment sees the return of actors Wang Baoqiang (王宝强) and Liu Haoran (刘昊然), and is believed to finally reveal the identity of the mysterious mastermind Q.
It is also said to contain even more hilarious scenes compared to the first two films. Detective Chinatown 3 takes place in Tokyo, and filming already started this summer. With a new environment, viewers can expect to see the seemingly unmatched pair Baoqiang and Haoran continue their humorous antics and more squabbles.
Actress Wendy Zhang (张子枫), who played “Si Nuo” in the first film, and Japanese actor Satoshi Tsumabuki (妻夫木聪), who played a Japanese detective in the second film, will be reprising their roles in the third installment.

i recently watched the new king of comedy, 王宝强 was absolutely amazing and so adorable. i will watch his other works too.
@m0m0 The first “Detective Chinatown” is quite funny; Wang Baoqiang the supporting cast especially did well. It was also refreshing to see street scenes of Bangkok in the movie.
“Detective Chinatown 2” took place in NYC Chinatown so it was nice to see scenes of the city featured in the sequel. Liu Haoran’s acting improved, but the positives end there. The American characters were all portrayed by low-budget actors with cringe-worthy performances.
