Dickson Yu Responds to Concerns Over His Health
Since Dickson Yu (余德丞) passed out from a sudden cardiac arrest and falling into a coma in 2018, many have been alarmed over his health. Last week, the 31-year-old hosted a soccer show and looked very tired, with swollen eyes rimmed with dark circles and a pale complexion. He also made many mistakes on air, leading to suspicions over his current state of health.
Appearing at the blessing ceremony for the remake of Return of the Cuckoo <十月初五的月光>, where he will be making a cameo as the younger version of Regina Ho’s (何依婷) character’s father, Dickson stressed that he is fine. He understands that everyone is worried over his health, but reassured that he is very healthy and often goes running.
“There’s no need for baseless theories. The show that I was hosting was for an Australian soccer match. I was lacking sleep [the night before] because I was busy doing research, as I was not familiar with Australian soccer or the players’ information. The lighting and makeup probably also made me look more tired.”
Suffering from asthma since a child and poor blood circulation, which causes his dark circles to appear even darker, Dickson assured, “There’s nothing I can do about this. I didn’t think everyone would be paying attention to my appearance while watching soccer.”
Assigned mainly hosting duties in the past two years out of concern for his health, Dickson has already spoken with TVB expressing his wish to start filming dramas again. “With my current health, I am able to handle all of my jobs.”
