Did Hawick Lau and Yang Mi’s Daughter Inherit Her Parents’ Strong Performing Genes?
Lau Dan praises his granddaughter’s natural delivery on stage.
It has been eight months since Harwick Lau (劉愷威) and Yang Mi (楊冪) announced their divorce at the end of 2018. With Hawick busy working in China, Yang Mi has taken a temporary break in Hong Kong to accompany their daughter. Recently, grandfather Lau Dan (劉丹) also shared his proud feelings about his granddaughter’s unexpectedly good on-stage performance in school.
With her parents busy with their careers, five-year-old Noemie spends most of her time with her grandparents in Hong Kong. Post-divorce, Harwick has specially taken time out to accompany Noemie, while Yang Mi would also fly to Hong Kong periodically to visit.
At her school’s 10th anniversary celebrations, Noemie performed with Hawick onstage together, singing the English song “You’ve Got a Friend” together. The video recording of their performance was widely circulated online.
At a publicity event for the popular sitcom Come Home Love: Lo and Behold <愛回家之開心速遞>, grandfather Lau Dan shared that he rushed over to catch Noemie’s performance after wrapping up filming that day. Unexpectedly, she was very steady onstage. He said proudly, “She only rehearsed twice at home, and wasn’t very focused perhaps because there were too many people. When I got there, it was her turn to sing, and she was unexpectedly relaxed and was very natural.”
Lau Dan also shared that Noemie had attended many classes during the summer including singing, dancing and swimming. Besides swimming which he felt would be good for her to learn, singing and dancing were his granddaughter’s own interests. He also added that she spent more time with her father and grandmother recently. “I would be busier whenever my filming schedule starts, and would only join them for meals or tea or to visit recreational places.”

I do think Noemie inherites Yang Mi’s high pitch voice, but not sure it will stay the same once she grows up. She was quite natural on stage though. And from the video I think Noemie looks more like her dad than her her mom
