Donnie Yen Is the Face of New Chinese Postage Stamps
It was announced that Hong Kong actor and martial artist Donnie Yen (甄子丹) has become one of the faces for China’s newest collection of postage stamps, which features some of the most famous Chinese martial artists around the world.
The “Famous Chinese Martial Artists” postage stamps collection is organized by the China Post and the State Post Bureau. Their collection aims to feature some of the world’s top public figures who has made a positive impact to society. The collection will release a series of postage stamps that is to exclusively feature Ip Man <葉問> star Donnie Yen, including the release of a special collector’s edition.
Donnie, who has had a successful martial arts film career in not only China but also internationally, expressed that he is absolutely humbled and honored to be featured on the face of these stamps. He shared, “They gave me a lot of pictures to choose from, but only six will be shown for the collection.” Donnie assured that he will save a few for his children to collect, and also plans on purchasing more of them so he can donate them to charity.
In addition, Donnie has won the Most Influential Action Star award at Mainland China’s Golden Ticket Cinema Awards, adding to his myriad of film achievements and awards, which includes four Best Action Choreography trophies from the Hong Kong Film Awards, three Best Action Choreography trophies from Taiwan’s Golden Horse Awards, and one Best Actor win from Mainland China’s Huading Awards.
The actor is currently shooting Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, a spin-off that takes place shortly before the events of the 1977 Star Wars film.
