Donnie Yen Films for New Thriller, “Raging Fire”
Donnie Yen (甄子丹) was spotted hard at work for his new movie, Raging Fire <怒火>. Known for his high standards, Donnie sweated it out in a jumping scene from a balcony which required him to be suspended on wires for two hours.
Directed by Benny Chan (陳木勝), Raging Fire‘s story revolves around police officer, Shan (portrayed by Donnie), who has solved numerous cases. One day, in a failed sting operation, Shan is attacked by a group of criminals headed by his former mentee, Ngo (portrayed by Nicholas Tse 謝霆鋒). A former police officer himself, Ngo entered prison three years ago after a tragic accident. Now he is back for revenge and bent on killing Shan.
It has been 14 years since Nicholas and Donnie worked together in a film. Nicholas has been training extra hard in anticipation of his fight scenes opposite Donnie.
Donnie has high expectations for his new movie. Although the director had accepted his first shot in jumping from a balcony, Donnie wanted to keep trying to ensure the best possible result. By the time the scene was completed, Donnie had been suspended on wires for two hours.
“I feel like if you want a really good movie, you need to also assume the role of the producer and be actively involved in all aspects of the filming. I want every detail to be clear and perfect,” the 55-year-old actor said.
Donnie filmed the scene wearing a gray suit, but he was tired and sweating by the time filming wrapped up. When he left work, he was only wearing a tank top, which revealed his strong muscles.
