Dylan Wang Hypes Up Anticipation for “Guardians of the Dafeng”

Dylan Wang (王鶴棣) rose to fame after starring alongside Esther Yu (虞書欣) in Love Between Fairy and Devil <蒼蘭訣>. His new historical drama, Guardians of the Dafeng <大奉打更人>, co-starring Tian Xiwei (田曦薇), held a premiere event on December 20 – also Dylan’s 26th birthday!
Tian Xiwei and Dylan Display Sizzling Chemistry
Preparing a special birthday cake for him, Tian Xiwei and Dylan shared adorable on-stage moments, from making heart gestures to playing games in perfect sync, their sweet interactions sending fans into a frenzy.
Now seven years into his career, Dylan is taking on his first major leading role in Guardians of the Dafeng. Since his breakout success with Love Between Fairy and Devil, his popularity has skyrocketed. Despite his drama Only For Love <以愛為營>, which co-stars Bai Lu (白鹿), being criticized for its clichéd script, Dylan’s immense popularity propelled the show into the top ten romantic dramas of 2023. Recognizing his star power, Tencent executives gave him the honor of hosting Guardians’ premiere event on his birthday.
Preparing a swarm of a hundred drones to celebrate their idol’s birthday, Dylan recorded the sweet birthday message his fans displayed using a swarm of a hundred drones and thanked them for it. “Happy birthday to Dylan Wang, wishing you a safe and smooth journey, we love you”. The production team also arranged a game for the main cast where one had to “move” another’s body to act out a word or phrase to be guessed at – when Dylan Wang closed his eyes and awaited instructions from Tian Xiwei, the two quickly guessed the correct answers, impressing fans with their remarkable chemistry!
Dylan Impresses the Director
Surpassing 7 million advance reservations so far, the drama also dropped a new trailer at the launch event, which surprised fans with plot twists revealing itself to be a fantasy epic and not a simple time-travel drama which fans initially thought.
The drama’s director Deng Ke (鄧科) also praised Dylan for inhabiting his character in a spontaneous scene, where the idol shed tears upon seeing his co-star Feng Hui (馮暉), a character who had departed but unexpectedly turned up. “His emotions weren’t a mere performance then, at the moment, I felt like he was Xu Qi’an himself!”

I can never see what’s so likeable about Dylan Wang but at least I haven’t seen him being cruel to any of his colleagues before, people need to stop being so overly scrutinizing.
