Edwin Siu’s Acting has Improved
Though Edwin Siu (蕭正楠) has been in the entertainment industry for over 17 years, viewers felt that there was always room for improvement in his acting. It was a delightful surprise to see that his acting has taken a big leap in the recently aired drama, Our Unwinding Ethos <十二傳說>. Viewers complimented Edwin for his maturity and improvement.
Our Unwinding Ethos focuses on many legends and murder mysteries that occur in Hong Kong. Edwin and Rosina Lam (林夏薇) use their detective instincts to solve the cases and unravel the secrets behind the urban legends. In one case, Edwin’s father To Yin Gor (杜燕歌) who had disappeared for over seven years, was accused of being involved with his student. Rosina and Edwin work together to revive To Yin Gor’s reputation.
In one notable scene, Edwin revealed to Rosina his feelings regarding his estranged father. While he was speaking, his emotions were so real and his eyes started turning red. Viewers were impressed with his acting because Edwin was able to portray the role of someone who lost their father convincingly. Though Edwin’s role is a strong character, he was able to push for more complexity by merging his sadness as well.
When asked about his sudden improvement in acting, Edwin responded that this particular scene made him think of his own father who had passed away a long time ago. He was able to put real feelings into the scene. Edwin said, “This topic on fathers really touched my soul, so I was able to portray it really well. I’m glad my character was a reporter this time, instead of the usual good son role.”
Edwin has been nominated for Best Actor in the TVB Anniversary Awards before, but could Our Unwinding Ethos help the actor finally clinch the award this year?
