Elaine Ng Accepts Etta Ng and Andi Autumn’s Same-Sex Flash Marriage
On November 8, Jackie Chan (成龍) and Elaine Ng’s (吳綺莉) 19-year-old daughter Etta Ng (吳卓林) married 31-year-old Internet personality Andi Autumn in Vancouver before returning back to Hong Kong. The newlyweds, who resided in Canada for half a year after leaving Hong Kong, announced the good news on social media yesterday with a photo of their marriage certificate.
When reporters asked Elaine for her thoughts on their same-sex marriage, she said, “I have a lot of friends who [have a same-sex marriage]. It’s nothing abnormal.”
Known for her turbulent relationship with her daughter, it seems as if things are going well between them. Elaine shared she saw Etta a few days ago and knew about the wedding. “I wish everyone well so why wouldn’t I send them my blessings?” the mother expressed. “I can’t really say I accept or I don’t accept, I think I need to let nature take its course.”
However, netizens pointed out Etta is still young and don’t have the financial stability to be married. Earlier, it was rumored Etta returned back to Hong Kong due to visa expiration and financial troubles. The couple was also previously spotted in a convenience store looking homeless, and Etta even filmed a video seeking help from Jackie. Although they announced their engagement and established a multimedia workshop in May of this year, their unsuccessful development in Canada and hardships with money allegedly led them to leave.
While Elaine refused to answer questions related to daughter’s reason of return, Etta posted online that “nothing is greater than true love found. With love, we’ve returned. My home is Hong Kong, a beautiful city full of life and passion.”
The young newlywed also added love is stronger than blood, while Andi announced on social media that they are “back to Hong Kong as wife and wife.”
The wedding ceremony they held was simple yet grand. Donned in a wedding dress and veil, Andi was moved to tears when the couple said their vows and exchanged wedding rings. Etta couldn’t stop smiling sweetly. When reporters asked if Elaine will eat dinner with them to celebrate, she said, “Wait until I’m done with work and have time first.”
Before Elaine dodged the questions regarding Jackie, she added, “[Etta’s] a big girl now, I think we both have our own work, so I want to focus more on my own work.”
