Eliza Sam Thanks Tavia Yeung for Encouragement
Eliza Sam (岑麗香) has not had a decent day of rest since she skyrocketed to fame with last year’s Divas in Distress <巴不得媽媽…>. Her show price has risen to $70,000 HKD per show – a price that is comparable to even first-line actress, Kate Tsui (徐子珊).
The Vancouver-born former Miss Chinese International winner said humbly, “I don’t know my own price. This has always been handled by my agency and manager. I’ve received a lot of show functions lately. Maybe it’s because I have a drama that is being broadcast right now.”
In 2013, Eliza starred in four dramas – Inbound Troubles <老表,你好嘢!>,Triumph in the Skies 2 <衝上雲霄II>, Sniper Standoff <神鎗狙擊>, and The Hippocratic Crush 2 <On Call 36小時> – all with varying degrees of success. In The Hippocratic Crush 2, which is currently airing on TVB Jade, Eliza is paired with Him Law (羅仲謙). The costars were rumored to be together, and Eliza admitted that she was a bit unhappy by published reports.
“We were rumored to be together even when we were still shooting The Hippocratic Crush 2! I was a bit unhappy then, but Him and [girlfriend] Tavia Yeung (楊怡) were really kind and comforted me! Tavia told me, ‘Don’t be unhappy. Ignore those reports and don’t let them affect you!’ Tavia is really very kind. When I first joined the industry, we had the same manager. She took care of me very well then.”
Asked if she would be willing to work with Him in future functions, Eliza said without hesitance, “I’m okay with that! We’re going to work on the historical drama The Vinegar Lady <醋娘子> together soon too!”
Eliza’s romantic rumors have caused great stress for her. She once had rumors with Chin Ka Lok (錢嘉樂) during the Divas in Distress era, and when she was filming Sniper Standoff earlier this year, she had dating rumors with both Steven Cheung (張致恆) and Alan Wan (溫家偉). Eliza said she was afraid that her rumors would affect her image, especially her image in front of her future in-laws. “How can I get married this way?” said Eliza.
It was Eddie Cheung (張兆輝), her costar in Sniper Standoff, who changed Eliza’s perspective on rumors. “He told me, ‘You should choose a boy you trust before getting together with him anyway!’ and that opened my views. I’ll just treat rumors as promotion!”

So far i really like Him and Eliza’s chemistry in OC2. Him’s character Onion is hilarious lol!
Eliza Sam has been able to achieve her popularity and high show prices because she has a very pleasant, bubbling, and easy-to-get-along personality. Very happy for her.
All she has to do now is to work hard on her Cantonese and improve her acting skills.
If she does not improve, new beauty winners will easily surpass her.
I think she’s here to stay lol. Her future does seem to look bright. Tvb is giving her many opportunities to improve and gain audiences attention- looking forward to her future series!!
Her and Priscilla Wong are the two who does need to make a breakthrough quick or the new generation of beauty winners will take over. Both are in their late late 20s, and we all know how cruel the age game is for women.
Nut even in their late 20s, Eliza doesnt even look like she’s her age. Although age is cruel to women in the entertainment industry, im sure she would still be able to pull off youthful roles for quite some time imo. But at least she’s improving, it’s always better than going backwards.
Actually I don’t mind her Cantonese , it’s cute! She’s cute.
Was watching a bit of HC II and I must say her Cantonese improved A LOT.
I wonder how is she going to act as an evil character….
lol definitely dont judge a book by its cover.
Not going to lie, I think Eliza is very genuine. You can tell that she’s naturally bubbly, happy and possesses a goodgirl nature.
She has the most jolly laughter LOL When I first heard her laugh I was a bit shocked because it wasn’t expected judging my her exterior appearance, but I thought it was cute how big laughs can come out from such a girly looking artist hahaha
strange,,why earlier comments in other article compare tracy chu with elixa and many prefer the acting of tracy chu more and gives praise to tracy over eliza…but here eliza seem to win hearts
Tracy Chu has the advantage of her language (Cantonese) skills. I heard that her acting is not too bad, quite natural.
Anyway, they have different personalities and they should “fit” different characters.
tracy chu has more natural acting and cantonese but eliza has more fans because of her bubbly cute innocent goddess image. unfair but the truth.
She is much better than Sire Ma IMO.She just looks like the way she is: Bubbly 😀
sire ma dug her own grave. bye bye for her since her promising career basically destroyed like shirley. she destroyed her own image in front of the audience.
if sire didn’t lie about her love life, her consequence won’t be this bad. it’s her own fault for her wrong response to the media.
eliza overpromoted and mediocre acting. tracy chu can act better than her in on call 2! only popular because she has a cute, bubbly and innocent good girl image. like linda who is a jade girl. i don’t get hk obsession with innocent jade girls when their acting are mediocre! so unfair to acting powerhouse like nancy and kristal!
also unfair that eliza keep being said as the lead of mr and mrs bean when michelle yim is the real lead! the mainland promo basically left out michelle yim and focus on eliza like she’s the first lead! overrated chick. feel bad for nancy and michelle yim who had to babysit her yet all the publicity go to eliza! hope nancy outshine her!
There is no doubt about it ………… Nancy Wu will outshine Eliza Sam in “Mr. and Mrs. Bean”. It is not that hard to do it.
of course. eliza is more of a celeb who bank on her clean, positive cute bubbly goddess image and not on her acting.
nancy on the other has real talent, she will outshine eliza. besides vincent said that he love the script of him and nancy in this series.
not watching for sure, the series look lame and low budget comedy i bet only nancy’s part will be good.
I agree
Eliza is bubbly an cute girl , certainly has a potential in acting! Definitely to improve her canto n acting skill! Good to see her getting more popular
Is elisa sam a vietnamese canadian?
Yes. She is a Vietnamese Canadian.
Eliza’s parents are from vietnam, but they are ethnically Chinese.
Really heartwarming to read about Tavia taking care of Eliza. I’ve always seen Tavia as someone who is very warm and caring.
