Elton Loo Continues to Battle Diabetes

TVB artist, Elton Loo Kwan Yau, was diagnosed with diabetes eleven years ago. When he was in his twenties, he often felt thirsty and easily tired. Due to his youth, he ignored his health ailments but reflecting back, he realized he already had diabetes at that time.
Elton’s diabetes worsened over the years and lead to further complications involving his heart, tumor of the parotid glands, and inflammation of the kidneys. In September 2009, the diabetes resulted in bacterial infections on his right leg that could not be healed. Elton’s right calf was amputated subsequently.
Elton will be releasing his own book, entitled, How I walked Out of Death’s Shadow <我走出死蔭的幽谷>, sharing his physical and emotional battles against his declining health over the years. While writing the chapter on his leg amputation, he stopped several times and could not continue due to the emotional turmoil.
Through his book, Elton hoped to inspire others who are struggling with heath issues and give them hope in the face of adversity.
Celebrating his fifty-first birthday yesterday, Elton was presented with a birthday cake and new wheelchair. His birthday wish this year was to take less drugs and wish everyone maintains their good health.

Jayne: Elton Loo was a well-known comedic artist in the 1980s and 1990s, especially for his parodies of Lydia Shum in comedy sketches and his performances in “Enjoy Yourself Tonight.” I only learned of his illness recently. Diabetes slowly causes the failure of entire body and organs if you do not take care of it properly. (My cat died of diabetes, which eventually lead to heart and kidney failure, in the last two years of his life).
OMG…I have watched so many series with him in it. I wish him all the luck, strength, support, and love to fight that harmful disease. That’s why I always say go for a full check-up at least once a year.
Was shocked to see that he’s missing one leg. I didn’t know diabetes will be this deadly. Feel bad for him.
Oh dear! No wonder never heard from him since Lydia Shum’s funeral. I wish him good health and speedy recovery.
What a sad story and health is sooo important. Some of my distant aunts and uncles have diabetes so I know the pain of that. I wish him the best in everything!!

Thanks for the news Star, but what a sad piece of news. May he rest in peace… I did not know that diabetes can be so deadly.
Oh yes it can be. Limbs can be amputated, diabetes come together with heart attacks etc. It is deadly if not monitored.
Lydia Shum was also diagnosed with diabetes.
