Elva Hsiao Denies AIDS Rumors

With rumors of her having AIDS escalating, Taiwanese popstar Elva Hsiao (蕭亞軒) finally spoke out about the issue on May 13. Elva updated her Instagram stressing that she does not have AIDS and will pursue legal action against the false claims.

Ever since taking a hiatus from her work in 2017 due to health issues, Elva has kept a rather low profile and there were no official updates regarding her status. However, speculations cropped up regarding Elva’s health, with claims stating that she has contracted AIDS. Although her studio already denied the allegations, Elva posted angrily on her social media account yesterday, “I’m very unhappy and I feel terrible for my mom. Not only have the rumors hurt me, but they have hurt my mom!”

Hoping that the accusations will die down, Elva added, “I will try my best to find the source of these rumors. It’s because of people like you who hide behind their keyboards – if I don’t stop this, I don’t know how many more innocent people will get hurt.”

Originally wanting to keep quiet about the issue because they were simply rumors, Elva admitted that she could no longer hold in her anger when the media kept hounding her for answers on Mother’s Day.

Besides stepping out and clarifying the allegations, Elva did mention about trying to get back into better health. Because of issues with her throat and stomach, Elva said she has been suffering from serious discomfort and vomiting symptoms for the past year. Trying to slowly recuperate, Elva expressed, “I can only be patient and try my best to make sure I get better again.”
