Espionage Drama “Sparrow” Starring Li Yifeng Premieres September 5

The long-awaited period espionage thriller drama Sparrow <麻雀> will finally hit television screens on Monday, September 5. The 60-episode Chinese drama is based a short novel series written by Hai Fei (海飞), who also serves as Sparrow’s screenwriter.

Sparrow stars popular actor Li Yifeng (李易峰) as the double agent Chen Shen, close friend and right-hand man of Bi Zhongliang (Edward Zhang 张鲁一), commander of a Kuomintang secret agency. With the help of a mysterious agent known as “Sparrow”, Chen successfully infiltrates a Japanese organization and steals Japan’s military plans.

Bi trusts Chen with his life, and he regards Chen as his closest friend. But the capture of a suspicious prisoner leads Bi to question Chen’s loyalty to his party. Bi investigates, and finds that Chen is not what he appears to be at all.

Sparrow will premiere on Hunan TV on September 5, 2016. It also stars Zhou Dongyu (周冬雨), Li Xiaoran (李小冉), Zhang Ruoyun (张若昀), and Yin Zheng (尹正).
