Eva Huang Admits She is a Married Mother
Mainland Chinese actress Eva Huang (黃聖依) has been involved in romantic rumors with her manager Yang Zi (楊子) for a decade. Aside from confirming their relationship recently, the couple admitted to being married for a number of years and already have one son.
In May, there was also an essay allegedly penned by Yang that was spreading rapidly among the online community. The writer of this essay acknowledged Eva as Mrs. Yang, thanked her for all her years of sacrifice, and expressed the hope that Eva would be spared of the public’s scrutiny. However, Yang did not stand up to address or clarify any of the rumors concerning Eva and himself.
All was finally revealed when Eva spoke with the media at the recently held Shanghai International Film Festival, where she spoke about her marriage to Yang for the first time and apologized for not disclosing it earlier. Eva further acknowledged that she had one son and hoped that the media would not drag her son into the spotlight.
“I have taken my son out before, but [the media] just didn’t notice. Our social life only involves friends. Production crew members have also seen him in the past,” said Eva.
On whether her son had his father’s surname, “Yang”, Eva did not address the question directly but said, “Of course he will take his father’s surname. I am quite traditional. There is no reason to take his mother’s surname.”
However, Eva declined to reveal her son’s full name.
