Fans Glad Li Yifeng Didn’t Injure Handsome Face in Car Accident

Around 3 a.m. on May 27, popular Mainland Chinese actor Li Yifeng (李易峰) crashed his Lamborghini in a car accident in Beijing. Although the 7 million RMB Lamborghini was severely damaged, fans were glad that the handsome 29-year-old’s face escaped injuries: “As long as his face is saved, that’s fine.”

The temporary vehicle license of Yifeng’s Lamborghini had already expired before the accident occurred. Rumors quickly spread that Yifeng may have been drunk and was speeding. After police arrived on the scene, Yifeng did not take a breathalyzer test to determine if he was driving under the influence of alcohol. Yifeng will be fined 200 RMB and his license will be deducted 12 points for the accident.

Furthermore, reports claimed that Yifeng was driving to meet rumored flame, Yang Mi (楊冪). The pair were romantically linked together after filming drama Legend of the Ancient Sword <古劍奇譚> and movie Fall in Love Like a Star <怦然星動> even though Yang Mi is a married woman.

Yifeng’s studio issued a press statement to address the rumors. Acknowledging that his temporary vehicle license had expired, Yifeng apologized for violating traffic laws. He also clarified that he was driving to his parents’ home to retrieve his passport at the time.

After the accident, Yifeng appeared at the Beijing airport this morning, flying to Morocco to film a brand endorsement ad. Wearing sunglasses and sporting a wide smile, Yifeng’s spirits were not dampened by the car accident.

Media Criticizes Li Yifeng’s Irresponsibility

After filming 2013’s Legend of Ancient Sword, Li Yifeng’s popularity rose quickly. Yifeng placed ninth on the 2015 Forbes China Celebrity List, earning 69 million RMB last year. While fans dismissed Yifeng’s car accident as a minor incident and was glad their “Male God’s” face remained unharmed, the media criticized Yifeng for his irresponsibility.

If Yifeng’s temporary vehicle license had already expired, why did he not simply take a taxi? Did his celebrity status make him think it was okay to speed through a restricted area? Furthermore, why did he immediately leave China right after the accident occurred?

As a popular celebrity, Yifeng was asked to reflect on his own actions and the impact he may have on millions of fans. Due to Yifeng’s poor awareness of traffic laws, Chinese news outlet Huanqiu commented, “Perhaps his face was saved, but he left behind a pile of broken pieces on the ground.”

  1. I’m glad he’s okay. But it was a stupid thing to do.

I don’t believe the rumours between him and Yang Mi.

And right, his face. That important thing. I too am glad that it’s unharmed. Pity the ride though. THAT was actually my main focus, but we all prioritise differently I guess.

    1. @june I find his actions very irresponsible and dangerous. The media had every right to call out his reckless behaviour. Funny how his wannabe wives were quick to comment on the fact that his face was saved, but never bothered to scold him for his immature, reckless actions. BTW, he is dating that young lady Yang Mi, after all, he is old now, and he won’t be dating the delusional fans who dream of being his wife.

  2. I am just glad that no one was injured or died as it could have been a lot worse. No one, even if they are a celeb, should drive drunk and speed at all, unless it is an emergency.

  3. Yes, he should be glad that his dumb actions didnt cause his prized possession (his face) to be destroyed as an actor needs his face the MOST if he really wants to succeed.

It kinda annoys me that just because he is good-looking to some of his fans, he like completely gets away with doing stupid stuff like this. Like, was he gunna get off the hook by his fans if he actually accidentally killed someone because he didnt think his decisions carefully? *facepalm*

  4. The responds of this news is completely contrary what Kangin from the Korean kpop group Super junior is facing. There are people signing petition for him to leave the group because of it and all the drama, footage and witness. But that’s because it’s the second time, one time in 2009 and now 2016, both times DUI.

Okay, Li Yifeng and Kangins case is probably too different to compare.. What do I know.

    1. @meupaperheart what you pointed out is not completely irrelevant. both were irresponsible imbeciles who did not consider the consequences of their actions. first time or not is OUT of the question. just shows how muddle-headed yifeng’s fans are ._.

Not just yinfeng fans, but blind loyalty of fans in general is regressive. Many diehard fans bash other actors, hoping to elevate their own idols’s superiority.

  5. His fans glad that his face was saved?? Who caused the accident in the first place? He is lucky he did not killed anyone. Super irresponsible. What is on the minds of young fans now…. No social responsibility at all.
