Fantasy Drama “Swords of Legends 2” Reveals First Character Posters
Alibaba’s new epic television drama Swords of Legends 2 <古剑奇谭二> has unveiled its first set of character posters this week, teasing fans with its upcoming release. The series, directed by Choi Jing-shing (蔡晶盛), is adapted from the second installment of the popular Chinese role-playing video game Gu Jian Qi Tian <古劍奇譚> (roughly translated to “The Tale of Ancient Swords”), which was released in August 2013 by Shanghai Aurogon for PC.
Swords of Legends 2 stars Fu Xinbo (付辛博), Ying Er (颖儿), Aarif Rahman (李治廷), and Coco Jiang (姜雯) as young heroes who must band together to search for a powerful sword that could save a certain city from impending doom. It costars Shao Bing (邵兵) and Ken Chang (張智堯), with a special appearance by Dylan Kuo (郭品超).
The first game was adapted into the television series Swords of Legends in 2014, which enjoyed immense popularity and commercial success in China. It jumpstarted the career of Li Yifeng (李易峰), and pushed rising stars such as William Chan (陳偉霆) to mainstream recognition.
Though the two games take place in the same world, their stories are not directly related.
Swords of Legends 2 producers have confidence that the second installment will be as successful as its predecessor, saying, “We are using movie-quality methods to film the show. We will definitely do our best to present the game’s best and most visually-shocking moments to the screen!”
Swords of Legends 2 is slated for a late December 2017 release in Mainland China. A film version, starring Leehom Wang (王力宏), Victoria Song (宋茜), Godfrey Gao (高以翔), and Karena Ng (吳千語) is also in production.
