Francis Ng Envies Chilam Cheung For the Money He Makes
With the broadcast of Triumph in the Skies 2 <衝上雲霄II>, Chilam Cheung’s (張智霖) popularity has been skyrocketing consistently. Allegedly, he already pocketed $80 million HKD. At a recent Hong Kong Airlines recruitment function, Chilam’s costar, Francis Ng (吳鎮宇), was quick to express his envy when he heard the news.
Speaking of how Chilam has been lining his pockets quickly, Francis admitted he is extremely envious. “I only have a few hundred thousand dollars! Currently, I’m busy filming a drama in mainland China, and won’t be back filming in Hong Kong until December. Of course I would rather stay in Hong Kong if I am offered a good price.”
Since Francis had been busy in mainland China, he could not make it to the grand finale event of Triumph in the Skies 2. He expressed his regret, “I would have to pay a fine if I asked for another break. There are 1,000 scenes [in the drama I’m filming], and I take up 800. How can I leave?” Francis added that in the future, he would not mind accepting villainous roles.
Chilam’s management contract with Jet Tone Film Production has recently expired. Earlier, it was reported he is not on good terms with his ex-manager, Ms. Leung, who allegedly cursed in anger over their previous relationship. Chilam wrote on his Weibo, “Thanks to Jet Tone Film Production’s ten years of evaluation. I will never forget every one of your replies and comments.” In a short while, the post was deleted.
Yesterday, reporters called Chilam regarding the tabloids, in which he texted back and said he will not issue a response. On the other hand, Ms. Leung has not replied to the press.

I just saw the final episode. I HATED It. What utter crappy rubbish that was. And I hated Jayden’s ending! Oh I hated it ALL!! Even if it had my plane crisis scenario, that was hardly a crisis. I mean it is but hardly THAT crisis.
Well Funn, should be glad that it was finally over! I hate watching Fala. Hate her role!! Too much of her!
Definitely 10 episodes TOO long. I don;t get why she chose Sam. I would have gone for Jayden.
And that other pair, Adrian or Roy…neither, both as silly. I will sooner choose Jim Jim.
Didn’t get why she chose Sam either. In fact. I was insulted that she chose him. I would have been perfectly fine with her not choosing either if she didn’t really love Jayden, but choosing someone who scolds every single minute, wants to change you completely and is so emotionally closed off to you? Ugh!
Put it this way; I love Sam but I don’t want an invigilator as my boyfriend 24/7 and someone who disrespects me, like as in I am good enough to share a bed with him BUT not good enough to share a cockpit with him.
Wait!! WAIT!! That is a nice quote! Will use it for my review!!
Under moderation?!
Anyway again…
Put it this way; I love Sam but I don’t want an invigilator as my boyfriend 24/7 and someone who disrespects me, like as in I am good enough to share a bed with him BUT not good enough to share a coc-kpit with him.
Wait!! WAIT!! That is a nice quote! Will use it for my review!!
@ Funn
I somewhat feel the same, yet I will say it this way: I’m fine with him being critical of her work performance. He’s IS a perfectionist but being a pilot you need to be like that. It’s that he extend his controlling demeanor to their private life that drives me crazy. Everything she does is wrong or not good enough. Sure Holiday is childish, scatterbrained and whatever but you knew that already!!! Why date someone you want to change 100%?! As a mentor and teacher, Sam was good for Holiday. As boyfriend? He was the absolute worst! He didn’t respect her at all and really made you (and Holiday) wonder wtf he dated her in the first place!
Naybe the It Started With A Kiss syndrome? The need to be pushed around and being told what to do by boyfriend who is smarter?
You mean the Twilight syndrome?
I hate this part 2 movie, u got thats right too much of fela chang
Well, TVB is team Sam-Holly.
I don’t get it. I would have chosen Jayden over Sam. Jayden can bring the worst out in Holly and the good. You can see that the new Jayden and Holly got along better. Sam sees in it too. I hate how it made her realize it’s Sam bc of a life and dead moment. Cliche much?
How insulting to Chilam? His scenes got cut, which made his development sucked. Guess TVB didn’t mind offending him.
@ Hannah
Jayden said: I’m waiting for you to realise you’re people from two different worlds (rough translation). I was waiting for the exact same thing! The worst thing was that they never even did anything to solve their issues. A life-death emergency and that’s it?! I was thinking of course she reached for Sam when she was sitting closest to him!!! So stupid!
Spot on Funn. 10 episodes too long, TVB over milked it. Too many redundant relationships or characters. Holiday should have been with Jayden and Fala hijacking every scene is annoying! The reference to that angel thing is cringe worthy. Arghhh… I want to curse at TVB, but I shall not.
Still laughing over Funn’s share a bed but not coxxpit comment! Too funny!
@Advo:
Lmao. Jayden was operating the plane. I don’t see why Holly would grab onto him. If she did, then the whole plane would have crashed.
The whole Sam-Holly ending was forced by TVB. It was so inconsistent. In one scene Sam didn’t want to be with Holly anymore. You can tell from his look that he was drained from the relationship. In another scene there seems to be some spark between Jayden and Holly again. It went back and forth. Ugh…so annoying!
The editing is just really bad. Someone pointed out that there were Power Chan and Paisley Wu at the end in the flashbacks, but I don’t recall watching their parts. Like, why did TVB even bother to invite people to film? Seriously, should have cut the fillers. Jeesh!
of course she reached for Sam when she was sitting closest to him!!! So stupid!
——————————————-
Agree. But it is also true that “Jayden was operating the plane. I don’t see why Holly would grab onto him. If she did, then the whole plane would have crashed.”
The ending just did not make good sense to all of us, though it was a good and happy ending.
TVB should have listened to Francis’ comments ……… Holiday ended up with Jayden and not Sam.
Agree that Sam is a good mentor for Holiday as a pilot, but surely not as a husband for the rest of her life. I don’t think Holiday should change herself so much to accommodate Sam’s requirements and expectations. It is very sad for Holiday to do it.
@ Hannah
Haha, good one! I almost wished she had grabbed on to him and crashed the damn plane! That would have been a surprising and dramatic ending, lol.
The editing was so bad. I can’t believe they cut to the wedding and basically “spoiled” the outcome of the plane ride/Holiday’s choice. Talk about anti-climatic!
I actually have to disagree that there were “sparks” between Jayden/Holiday towards the end. Because they cut so many of their scenes, I never felt that Holiday was that into Jayden. Towards the end, I didn’t feel that she hesitated at all. It was only because she kept begging and begging Sam to show her some signs of reciprocating her feelings, that it felt like Jayden had a really, really small chance. Frankly, I thought it was more likely (that is not very likely at all) that Sam would dump Holiday (because he’s older and wiser) than Holiday actually realising she was accepting emotional abuse from Sam. Perhaps it was an instance of Francis acting too well! Because he definitely gave the impression that he was sick of Holiday and not at all IN love with her. Ugh, and I got the creeps whenever he would adjust her hair. It was just so fatherly!
Anyways, I do strongly disagree with people saying Jayden just thought of Holiday as a challenge. Then people should rewatch the breakup scene because it is VERY evident that Jayden didn’t want to break up at all. He had genuine feelings for Holiday. He’s the biggest commitment phobic on earth and he allowed her to move in, introduced her to his beloved sister and was practically monogamous with her. Even if you do believe he was playing around her – they were in an open relationship. Also, the last scene where he tells her he really loves her? As genuine as it can get. And a hell lot more than she ever got from Sam.
Guys and girls, this show was a disaster to begin with. Zoe’s death and the exclusion of the original S4 and Sam’s parents already destroyed it. This show is a hit mess that does not live up to the hype. Not a true sequel. Let’s just be glad they ended…
If you become a writer and producer for tvb, you can change all that by pairing up Fala and Jayden again in part 3,how’s that. Go apply the job and I support you
I agree with Hannah. Jayden told Holiday genuinely that he loved her very much and he wanted to make a commitment with her, but Sam never did .
I also agree that the editor must have cut too many scenes of Jayden and Holiday together after his return to Hong Kong. It could be due to the following reasons:
1) The producers did not want to make the series too long.
2) They did not want to give the audience the impression that Holiday should choose Jayden instead of Sam. Obviously Jayden was more suitable for Holiday in the long run.
ben:
Thanks for your suggestion. I don’t think we will apply for the job to write the script of TITS 3.
1) TVB will not hire us. They usually like to have someone screw up the storyline. We are too sensible people.
2) We don’t want to have the attacks from the audience since they all have difference perceptions and ideas.
@Advo:
I felt like there was something there. Holly may not realize it, but she had feelings for Jayden. He’s wasn’t just a rebound! When Jayden showed her the video and hugged her, she seemed a little touch by him. I just think that she did so much for Sam, so she refused to let go.
I also agree that Jayden truly loves Holly. Yeah, it may seemed like jealousy at first. But, he came to realize that he really loves her. It wasn’t just a game between them. Jayden confessed his love so many times. Willingly. As for Sam, Holly had to get it out of him. I felt like Sam said whatever he did because Holly wanted him to. Even after the crisis, she was the one to initiate the convo. Like, is Sam too good to be apologizing for treating her like a toy? Pushing her back to Jayden?
I don’t get it! What will the future for Sam-Holly be like? He’ll continue to change her so she can become more like him? And Holly will continue to be submissive?
@ Hannah
I think there should be something there between Holiday and Jayden, just for the fact that she was happy with him. He didn’t make her completely miserable all the time. Honestly, I laughed when Jayden asked her (during the drunk scene) if she didn’t enjoy always being scolded and that was why she was attracted to Sam. Because it was spot on commentary!
The future for Sam-Holiday? No clue. Evidently the show want us to believe they solve their issues because of a life-death situation when in reality, they solve nothing. Sam always knew he was being to harsh on her. But his pride or whatever always prevented him from a) changing his behaviour b) apologise. Which is why I’d never buy that he would change. Why would he? Holiday accepts his abusive behaviour. And then next time she does something not to Saint Sam’s satisfaction whether professionally or personally, she’ll get another earful. She’ll sulk and he’ll feel slightly bad – but not enough to change his behaviour and round and round we go.
Series would have been much better without Miss Falafel hijacking every valuable scene.
Miss Falafel??? Fala’s acting may not have been great, but name calling is childish and unnecessary.
And to be honest, the whole series was a bit of a toss anyway. Acting wise, they were all a bit mediocre, not just Fala. Francis and Chilam overacted (one tried too hard to look serious while the other tried too hard to look like a player), Myolie looked like a slab of stone for most of the series, Ron looked rigid and uncomfortable for the most part, and Fala was Fala. The series would have been much better if the script hadn’t been filled with so much English because none of them are fluent enough to sound natural, if they hadn’t overplayed Adele songs with every single scene in London and Paris, if it hadn’t wasted so much time with flashbacks, if there had been fewer subplots, if Francis had just relaxed a bit and stopped acting so much, if Chilam had eased his cheeks a bit (the dimples did nothing for the player look), if Myolie hadn’t looked like she was constipated half the time, if Ron had worked on his English a bit more, and if Fala’s acting had been better.
Wake up and smell the coffee Jill, the series sucked because it sucked, not because of a single actor. Fala alone didn’t and really couldn’t make or break the series.
Have a cup of coffee and chillax. I don’t take any of this stuff seriously. Her acting hasn’t been good, not just this series.
if Myolie hadn’t looked like she was constipated half the time
———————————————————
What a funny and good way of describing Myolie’s (Summer) character and acting!
Fala alone didn’t and really couldn’t make or break the series.
—————————————————————-
It is very true. If there wasn’t any Holiday (Fala), the drama series would be more boring and dull to me. I enjoyed watching the interactions of Holiday and Jayden very much ………. lively, funny, and humourous!
I can’t stand Sam’s character …….. he is too old-fashioned, stubborn, dull, and rigid all the time. He doesn’t match Holiday’s outgoing personality.
Haha, i must say Mt that you do have a way with words. Seriously, am i the only one who really hates this series? Seems like most people are gushing abt how great it is but i just couldn’t watch beyond the first episode. I did mention in another post that this series was full of everything nice and grand but lacks soul and also how everyone’s acting was so pretentious, so your observation really resonated with me 🙂 I think every one of the cast was aware that this would be THE series of the year, so it’s make or break for them to get some kind of recognition; hence most ended up over acting in order to try to make an impression on the audience. As a result, the actors became too self conscious of the characters they were playing and hence over-acted. I’m really glad this series is finally over. 40 episodes for a travelogue (sort of) and showcase for pretentious overacting is too much for me to stomach.
I really hated myolie wu’s performing. so disappointed in someone who been acting for so long still can act well. ron ng and nancy wu aswell they just can break it, always act the same emotion and standard
Personally I never liked Myolie Wu’s acting. She always acts with almost the same expressions in all her drama series.
Ron Ng was better at the beginning of the series, but did not change much during the rest of the drama series.
I don’t agree about Nancy. She was very natural throughout the whole series. She could be the best actress to me in TITS 2.
I agree that Myolie’s acting and gwing look is disappointing. However I really enjoyed Nancy’s performance. Ron Ng is not bad, he was very good in the beginning. Towards the end I wanted more fun banters between Sam and Issac because I thought their chemistry was the best. They are super convincing as brothers.
Not sure about this series, but I never liked Myolie’s acting much either… She just seems to be acting in the same old roles over and over again. Definitely not a versatile actress.
Personally I think Myolie Wu is worse in TITS 2 because Summer is a very boring and dull character. She does not have to smile much and does not talk much. She is miserable most of the time. Therefore, Myolie does not have to show too many expressions: sad, quiet and smiles a little occasionally. Summer does not have very much screen time, maybe even less than Coco (Nancy Wu).
Not defending Myolie, but i would blamed the script writer for giving her such a role. She was actually playing supporting role to Fala. anyway glad is over.
Nancy wu was good on some scenes, like when she was breaking up with her boyfriend. hoped she had more break -tru scenes. Ron was just OK not much different.
Well, given that much of their recent dramas have been pretty mediocre to awful, the finale was at least better than recent standards.
i like the ending and i think Fala did well in the show.
The finale was 1 million miles away already you can predict. What I didn’t predict was that was it protecting 6 billion people thing? 8 billion? 4 billion? That stupid part.
Oh I’ve been biting my tongue and tried to refrain from commenting. But resistance is futile, that last Jayden scene is so ridiculously stupid. I hate it! Why TVB, why ruin such a good franchise? I’m in agony!
Chilam mentioned at the life show that his final choice was “無奈” (helpless). I guess the scriptwriters could not think of a better ending for Jayden’s character, and they wanted the top lead characters to have a happy ending.
@ Sandcherry
How infuriating! And the worst thing is how it goes against Francis’ wish too (which you could also tell from his acting). Normally, I’m not in favour of actors dictating storylines but TVB’s scriptwriters are demonstrating a thorough lack of understanding for their own characters!
The ending sucked!. Can’t believe how much TVB shafted Chilam’s character to make the Sam/Holiday relationship more viable.
Agree. I also wish that Holiday would end up with Jayden They had so much fun together and Holiday got tons of encouragements from Jayden, but only criticisms and discouragements from Sam. If Jayden did not encourage Holiday to stay on as a pilot, she might have given it up. It is sad that Holiday picked Sam at the end instead.
Could the ending be more cliché? I think not. Thanks TVB for another average production.
Yes, the ending was every bit as predictable as it could have gotten. I was shocked by HOW predictable it was.
Chilam works hard for that payday, and he also continues to be a nice guy despite his status and wealth. Can’t say the same for Francis.
What happend to his HUGE TVB paycheck for this series? Blown it all already?
Him complaining about being broke is a laugh since he’s probably one of the best paid stars (top 10?) left in HK. He also has a ton of crappy mainland movies lately that probably pays him a metric ton of cash as well. Where is all his money going?!?!
I think he was just joking around
He might be getting a pretty good pay check for his current mainland drama
I always hear people writing about Fala’s role as Holiday was bad. like she made the serie flop. Woow nearly all the cast from this show is totally rubbish. all TVB newbies, plus veterans actors were soo bad acted and performed. The best acting was only Francis. feel sorry for him.
It’s interesting to read people’s views and see how much society has changed.
Many say holiday should’ve picked captain koo – a man who is a flirty playboy rather than the honest and responsible Sam. For all we know captain koo may say he’s a changed man, but it’s just because holiday left him so he feels its a challenge to get her back, not so much because he loves her.
As for Sam, he truly does care about holiday, he clearly has issues with expressing himself causing their issues but his feelings are at least genuine.
You’re right, society has evolved. Women want more than just a dependable “good guy”. They want to be respected, they want an equal partner. Holiday does not need to end up with either guys. If she didn’t love Jayden then she shouldn’t pick him. But to choose a man who doesn’t respect her and want to change her entire personality, lol. What self-respecting woman does that?! Sadly TVB is once again perpetuating this sexist crap.
Oh yes, Sam’s love is genuine. He deeply cares about her. Like if she was a child.
Good comments. I feel same.
Is Chilam the one who posts things on Weibo and then ends up deleting them soon after?
I love the ending! So happy Holiday ended up with Sam! They are in love people so why shouldn’t they be together? You can always tell Holiday loves Sam more than Jayden.
Ditto. Holiday never cared for Jayden and anyone who thought she would pick him is delusional.
Nah more like fatherly love to me mann! She should give Jayden a chance u know he did change his lifestyle for her though silly Holiday!!!!!
at the end jayden sort of admitted love was a challenge
at the end jayden sort of admitted love was a challenge
———————————————————-
I think the above was said when Jayden returned to Hong Kong and found out about Holiday’s relationship with Sam. However, Jayden did tell Holiday in the finale that he genuinely loved her and wanted to make an commitment with her. So Jayden really loved Holiday, and not as a “challenge” only. The editors must have cut many scenes of Holiday and Jayden together towards the end, so it made it rather abrupt for Jayden to love Holiday.
Ditto! I am Team Sam all the way!
Yeah… Indeed a good ending! Holiday has made her right pick. Sam, in the other hand is harsh to her but yet cool and a real genuinely loving person from the bottom of his heart….. Well done, Francis! You are the best actor among all your fellow colleagues…..
yeah. i like Sam acting. In the end, Sam finally love Holiday just the way she is ..means no intention to change her. If you really concentrate watching the movie, Sam realized that he is being too harsh to Holiday. Why Sam reacted so cold towards Holiday is because Sam wants Holiday to make her right decision because that is her life. I believe Sam loves Holiday as much as Jayden just that both characters are different.
Spot on, Conscience!!
can somebody write a summary of the ending 4 me cause ive given up watching it. the only tvb drama im enjoying now is always and ever. its much better than tits2. dont know why the rating are below tits2. tits 2 was good at the beginning but have become very boring. so i have stopped watching halfway. if someone could write a summary of the ending or at least how all the couples end i will apprecate it.
Surprised that Myolie Wu (Summer) is the first lead actress in TITS 2. She had so little screen time compared to Fala Chen (Holiday). Nancy Wu might have more screen time than Myolie Wu, and she is only a supporting actress.
Even at the Live Show when the finale was broadcast, Fala and Myolie had to change spots to allow Myolie to stand in the middle of the front row. Shame on TVB …………. just because Myolie got a TV Queen award two years ago.
Agree good comment
Actually I already expected that Fala would be more of the lead in comparison to Myolie, considering she paired up with Francis and Chilam. However, TVB made it appeared as if Myolie was more of the lead more or less because of her seniority to Fala in TVB, that part I didn’t really care too much.
I think it just had to do with Fala no longer a managed TVB artist…You know TVB … they don’t hide their little dirty moves well :p
I think it has more to do with Fala’s departure than Myolie’s seniority.
If their screen time ratios are 45% vs. 55%, or even 40% vs. 60% (Myolie vs Fala), I can accept that Myolie is the 1st lead. But the actual screen time is 30% vs. 70% or less.
Sandcherry:
Did you reply under the wrong comment? Lol. I didn’t say anything about seniority.
Crystal:
Sorry. I shouldn’t have made my comment under your post. I should have made it as an independent post, as I have combined the two comments posted above …….. seniority of Moylie and departure of Fala
After reading all these negative comments, I am hesitating if I should watch part 2 right now. I am a diehard Triumph in the Skies I fan. Any advice?
I am planning to watch the original to clear my memory of the disappointing sequel. You’ll be the judge after that comment.
I have not seen part 1 yet but was going to see this one. However, after all of these bad comments and reviews, I may skip part 2 since it seems so long and draggy. It is sad that the cast and crew worked so hard but it did not seem to pay off.
They are two different drama series. The first one was focused in the lead artistes (Sam, Belle, Vincent, Cadets and Zoe towards the end) and the sequel was focused in too many love-affairs (i.e. too many subplots, and many of them had solo scenes). In that case, it looks like a a big plate over-crowded with too many side dishes.
I was not crazy about the first one, and I don’t hate the sequel either. Many people called the first one a classic, but the second one is only for entertainment purpose …….. big cast, good scenery, many pretty girls and some sexy scenes. Moreover, Holiday’s character is too complicated and not logical, and it is hard for any actress to act well. Many of the subplots don’t make sense to me, such as Coco (Nancy Wu) being a surrogate mother.
It’s not that bad. I agree though there are many unnecessary couples. I think more time should be put into how the main relationships develop, rather than the short scenes of many couples. I like Sam’s role a lot, in fact I think he’s way cooler than Jayden. I mean really cold. ha ha ha and that’s what makes him very manly.
Totally agreed with you
I’m a diehard fan of the first series too, due to the popularity of the drama I decided to give the sequel a try.
To be honest, the series isn’t really that bad, at least better than all of the TVB series that have been released so far, the series is just too draggy, cut off 10 episodes it will make an amazing drama.
I’d say the first 10 episodes are my favourite, the rest I didn’t care much. The finale wasn’t really that bad, except they gave Chilam a very stupid ending. I bet the producer didn’t bother much about Chilam since he isn’t with TVB, they just decided to cut his scenes to give more to Fala and it made his scenes look disconnected. One day he is in Paris sketching then the other day he is back in HK. Jayden was supposed to be an amazing character but the producer ended up screwing it. He was definitely charming in the first few episodes.
Fala I didn’t even bother to say much about her, I couldn’t stand her shouting part or whatever it is, especially the scene she was on the jet with Jayden, oh god. Improve your acting lady.
Well, you can give the series a try. I watched it for Francis and Chilam, which were both great.
p/s: Nancy and Him’s pairing was surprisingly cute too!! But I actually like Coco with Nick, Nick was so good to her :(.
Honestly, the end of the series showed that Sam realizes he was too harsh on Holiday in hindsight. Although he never shows that he’s uptight, he cried a couple of times. She says she’s in a lot of pain with him when she was drunk, but he also said that watching her go through this is even worse.
Secondly, she’s being all wishy-washy and flaunting that if he doesn’t hold onto her, she might leave. She isn’t happy at the fact that Sam is giving opportunities to Jayden…
Sam’s character, emphasizes that he will never force her to stay…until the very end where he playfully agrees that he is scared of losing her. If she wants to stay, she should never be fickle. There is the scene in Europe where she complains that he never communicates anything to her. He also made the point that he has shared everything he has to offer and has taken care of her up until now. Now that she doesn’t need him to take care of her, what else is there appealing to her about him?
At the end of the day, this is just a drama. I’m just curious to find if Chilam will win the favourite character award of will Francis.
Fala’s acting wasn’t horrible, it wasn’t great either. I think she played rather well at her role in the immature, free spirited, happy girl overseas Chinese girl. There were cringeful scenes where you can clearly see that she wasn’t on point, but through this series, I actually became a fan of hers.
I think it was not fair to criticize Fala’s acting just after the 3rd episode – cry scenes without tears. It would be more justified if people criticized her acting after 2/3 or 3/4 of the drama series.
I also like Fala more after TITS 2. She was the the best actress to act Holiday, but she did an adequate job. She could have added some details to enhance her inner emotions to show that she was upset or sad.
Typo …… It should read “She was NOT the the best actress to act Holiday, but she did an adequate job.”
I like Fala in this series. My wife and I becomes her fans of hers afters this show. Her scenes are the most entertaining, I don’t think anyone else can play a better Holiday.
Agree with Sandcherry 100%. For me, Fala Chen’s acting in the scenes with Francis is good and persuaded. I can feel her love for Sam by her expression without bed and kissing scenes.
It was a joy to watch Fala as Holiday. She brought me happiness and good entertainment. I loved her scenes with Chilam ………… very sweet and cheerful.
thuongan
Sorry. I never liked Holiday’s scenes with Sam Tong. I liked her scenes with Jayden instead.
Agree with u on this!!
That part when Holiday got drunk and said she is suffering, gosh, Sam replies is so touching!!
The one seeing u suffering is feeling worse. TOUCHING!
And miahahahas the way he carried her up!! So SAM TONG style!!!
Omg, I can’t agree more with everything you’ve written! Sam loves Holiday. You can see it by the way he looks at her. Francis Ng’s acting is amazing. You can feel his emotions by the look on his face and his eyes. I love the scene where he was watching her playing in the rain. It was a very touching scene for me. I don’t agree with those that think he’s abusing her emotionally. He does have higher expectations of her because he loves her. No one is perfect! It’s so easy to set higher expectations for those we love. I believe he did realize that he was a bit harsh on her at the end and has learned from this experience. I have become a fan of Francis Ng’s acting! He is amazing! Fala did an adequate job. There were worst performances by leading TVB actresses. Fala’s performance is not any worse or better than Myolie’s portrayal of Summer. I would pick Holiday’s character over Summer’s any day. Honestly, Summer’s character puts me to sleep.
Not surprised if TVB will nominate both Myolie Wu and Fala Chen for Best Actress award at the end of the year in TITS 2!
Actually i was rather confused with the scene where she was playing in the rain. I love that scene because she portrayed such joy, but i was not sure about Francis. To me, i interpret it as he realised how much he loves her, but yet at the same time he is sadden that she is not like that (that happy) when she is with him. and I did not understand why he just walked away.
^ Good point. Also, I think at first Sam smiled a bit bc of how happy Holly looks. Like he said, she enjoys the carefree life. But then he realized that they’re not on the same page. So, he walked away.
Nor loved or hated this drama. Just don’t give the sensational feeling like the 1st part, that you will want to re watch it again and again. I watched it 3 times and still gives me those un describle feeling.
Part 2 is just hit and miss.
I watch it only for Francis and Chilam
Honestly cannot be compared with the 1st one. This one too much of “extra” storyline and relationship messed up…probably the producer’s need to drag the episods longer. Most enjoy was watching Nancy Wu, i.e. her sweet relationship with Nic and Jim Jim. Rest of them are average only. Agree that Myolie’s acting is like stone..so dissapointing. Fala Chen too overacting
I completely agree.
Compared to the first one, the pain characters had way more camera time and enabled the audience to bond with the characters more. In this sequel, there were episodes where Sam, Holiday and especially Jayden didn’t even make an appearance. I could have done without Clever, Win, Hero, Pink, Apple, Tucker, and Fergus.
Having said that, this made Myolie revert into what is seemingly a supportive role…whereas originally, she was planned to be the four main characters with Francis, Chilam, and Fala.
But I guess that is what happens when you are paired with another supporting actor, which was Ron.
I enjoyed Coco and Him the most – the most organic and realistic couple there is in the sequel. They made humour and the series more enjoyable.
However, rumour has it that many scenes were cut from Jayden and Holiday moments, which made Jayden look a little more like a jerk because the audience couldn’t understand why he fell for Holiday as much as he did.
I wouldn’t say Holiday got too much screen time, but Myolie definitely seemed like a supporting actress due to her 2 minutes per episode appearance. However, 2 minutes of her looking constipated was enough for me -_-
All sequel are never as good as the first
Alas, the majority of us here hated it but the majority in HK TVland made this the highest rated TVB series of the year and for a certain executive who thinks TVB viewers will enjoy more martial arts, police and other purely commercial efforts this must be a justification of his decision.
Thus begins the slump of TVB quality wise if it hasn’t slump that low already.
This wasnt that great, the first one was just too classic, and standards were too high. The unfortunate thing is, some who have watched the 2nd series but not the 1st series don’t like sam as a character and that really disappoints me.
Sam is such a classic character, which TITS2 may have ruined.
I don’t like Sam’s character either, especially in the sequel.
I preferred Vincent Ling’s character in TITS, and Sam just ruined Vincent’s marriage.
I love sam’s character is this first series, it’s just the second series where i find him kinda frustrating, along with every other main character is the second series. For the first series, i feel it was more belle who ruined her marriage. I also enjoyed the storylines about friendship, such as sam and zoe, s4. 2nd series is all about love, not enough about family, friendship, oh and aeroplane scenarios/knowledge.
and now they wanna make a movie, time to stop milking this series. it needs to be left alone before people remember it for its faults rather than the amazingness that was the first series
Yes…i agree that Holiday should have choose Jayden over Sam. When I watched episodes 39 or 40, I start to hate Sam as a boy-friend, he not only want to change Holiday, but also very negative about what Holiday able to do. He always said that she is not able, not suiting, don’t have heart…how negative!
But I like Fala’s acting…it is not a easy character to act…at least it is not just a act as beautiful vase! Of course, she has room to improve…but I like her!
Francis Ng is awesome – I can’t remember the Hollywood version – there’s some actor who also delivers quirks and embellishments to his performance … there’s also a really funny Anthony Wong The Hybrid scene in Infernal Affairs when he and Wai Jai are at the bank and Wai Jai remarks on his weight loss (adultery!?) and Wong Born in Autumn says None of Your Business! haha, so I get no joy from Miss Hong Kong’s husband but Francis Ng ROCKS.
I watched two episodes and the final. Right from the beginning I followed Funn’s reviews and then stopped.
Whether I am in the position to give my opinion or not is neither here nor there. Lol
When I watched episodes 39 and 40 it’s obvious to me that Holly and Jayden are friends and they are very supportive of each other. But I think she has stronger feelings for Sam and vice versa. Only when you feel so deeply for another person you’ll get affected and hurt when you think you don’t live up to this person’s expectation. Plus you want to change to please this person otherwise why bother… as in Holly’s case.
When Sam saw Holly dancing and taking snapshots of herself he could see she was joyously unrestrained. It just emphasized to him they were people from two different worlds. Sam could see Holly wasn’t acting herself when she was with him. He didnt want her to change for him.
Sam is the kind of person who doesn’t like to explain himself and comes across as someone who’s harsh and unbending even though he’s against the issue not the person like when he testified in Jayden’s disciplinary hearing. When he quietly went to see the woman who could resolve the case.
When he used Jayden as his mouthpiece to convey to Holly what he had been trying to tell her all along. He wanted her to know that being a pilot is not a job to be taken on a whim because the responsibility of the crew and passengers’ lives is to be taken seriously. Instead of understanding his point she only saw it as his discouragement and nitpicking about everything.
Holly asked Sam whether he would stop her if she walked away. Sam remained silent and Holly walked away with the pained expression on her face.
Francis the actor didnt have to talk for his facial expressions portrayed his inner struggle not to make Holly choose between him and Jayden. Hence he appeared cold and unconcerned.
I think Holly made the right choice. Jayden loved her, but long could she hold on to his love? He wasn’t the kind of person to be tied down indefinitely. The ending for Jayden reinforced the impression that he wasnt a husband material as marriage life was too mild a challenge.
Summer was hurt by her brother’s abandonment. This experience had left a mark on her that she built a wall to keep people from getting too close to hurt her. Apart from being a good colleague she was constantly seen as miserable and unhappy. Is it bad acting when Myolie’s portrayal of Summer is to show a suppression of emotions as she retreated into her shell? With Isaac’s love she slowly but surely changed to be emotionally involved.
Overall, i think everyone did a pretty good job playing their respective characters. Myolie played well as the cool & reserved Summer & later on the happy & contented girlfriend. I never really liked Fala but i must admit she portrayed the character of Holiday very well..! I think she has improved tremendously. As for Sam & Jayden (or Francis & Chilam), almost flawless! I lurve this show!
I lovee Sam and Holiday to death as individual character. But to be honest, the ending was in fact kind of blurred because the writer failed to solve the real problem between Sam and Holiday. First, Sam always wants Holiday to make a clear distinction between business and private matter. That is bullcrap! There no such existing line when you’re in a romance relationship. If a couple can’t even agree on working matters, then that’s a big problem and it clearly shows how distinct of a character the both shares.
As a girl, I feel so disappointed that Holiday actually chose to go back to Sam even that she’s been taking the initiative since the beginning to the end. Like even when she asked Sam if he will ask her to stay if she choose to leave… he still keeps quiet. The worst part of the entire ending is that… the reconcile for the near-death experience between them still doesn’t solve the real problem between this couple.
