Gillian Chung and Michael Lai Have a Prenup

Truth Everything <真相吧！花花萬物> hosts, Xiao S (小S) and Kevin Tsai (蔡康永), invited married couple Gillian Chung (鍾欣桐) and Michael Lai (賴弘國) onto the program not too long ago. The couple not only revealed Michael is a victim of cyberbullying, but also the sort of financial pressure he faced when he was marrying Gillian.

Michael bore all the financial responsibility since Gillian “did not wish to use her own money to get married.” He thought it was reasonable, and then he found out Gillian invited 80 guests to the wedding, whereas he only had 10 family members attending. He could only take a deep breath and said with a smile, “Who would go bankrupt from getting married?”

Though Michael makes enough income as a doctor, he did not save much money as he bought whatever clothes and watches he desired before getting married. He even gave Gillian his credit card to use when they were first dating. She said, “I never met a man who told me to buy things with his card.”

However, after she spent a day at the mall, Michael quickly rescinded his offer and told her, “It’s better if I hold onto the card!”

He explained, “She really did not hold back! When I saw the billing statement, I had to take ten deep breaths!”

It turns out Gillian purchased a watch for him. Later, Michael showed her his savings, which he didn’t think was bad, but Kevin joked, “This made Gillian take deep breaths instead!”

On the show, Michael also revealed they signed a prenuptial agreement, which included pre-marital assets, child-rearing, and so on. Michael said it reassured Gillian that he didn’t marry her for her money.
