Gillian Chung on Planning for Her Wedding
Engaged with Taiwanese gynecologist Michael Lai (賴弘國) since January, Gillian Chung (鍾欣潼) admitted that they have not done much wedding planning. Since the couple has a long-distance relationship, this has made the planning even more challenging.
Michael sent some photos to Gillian for inspiration, but she laughed, “He said he wanted our venue to look like this: a pavilion with red flowers. It’s a bit scary, since it looks like a ghost wedding!”
The couple has started house hunting in Taiwan. Since the clinic that Michael works for is based in Taipei, Gillian will be spending a lot of time in Taiwan after marriage. Asked if she will live with in-laws, Gillian said no, “My husband and I will be flying a lot.”
The wedding date has not been set yet as they need to involve their family to select an auspicious date, while accounting for Gillian’s work schedule. She will be filming in Shanghai for the next few months and holding a concert tour in North America in May. However, Gillian stated that they will definitely hold a wedding banquet in Hong Kong, and perhaps a smaller dinner reception in Taiwan for family and friends.
Although Gillian will continue working after marriage, will she have less opportunities to make joint appearances as Twins with Charlene Choi (蔡卓妍)? At an event today, Gillian said, “Even if I get married, I’m still part of Twins!” Charlene said that life has different stages, and Gillian added, “There’s no reason why the company would stop me from having children. I’m already [in my 30’s]. I can still work after I have a baby!”
When asked how Joey Yung (容祖兒) is feeling after her breakup with Wilfred Lau (劉浩龍), Charlene said, “Joey is a big girl; she knows how to handle it.” Gillian said, “It’s most important that Joey is happy. As her good friend, we won’t intentionally gossip about it.”
