Grace Chan Hopes to Make a Comeback Drama

Even though Grace Chan (陳凱琳) has not filmed a drama in four years, she hopes to be able to film another drama and is inspired by Aimee Chan (陳茵媺), who made a comeback after taking a long hiatus to care for her children. Reflecting on her own family life, Grace looks forward to filming again.

Attending a roller skating event yesterday, Grace considered bringing her oldest son Rafael to the event so he could join the fun activities. However, she decided against it seeing as she would not have time to take care of him during the work event. With her son picking up roller skating, Grace said the activity is a great opportunity to teach him how to grow.

Although Grace thinks spending time with children is important, she understands over-indulgence and being a “helicopter parent” could have the opposite effect. Trying to get her sons into more activities, Grace explained it was difficult as her two oldest sons change their interests every other minute.

“They love swimming, but for some reason they assumed they already know how to swim without learning the basics. In the end, they realized they could only make bubbles in the water and finally understood they don’t know how to actually swim,” Grace laughed.

Grace’s husband, Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎), also tried getting their children into cycling. The couple believes riding a bike and swimming are two very basic skills that all children should have. Grace’s best sport is badminton, although she is modest in saying she has no hand-eye coordination. While Kevin is a fairly good tennis player, Grace was told to find an external instructor since she would get frustrated if she cannot accomplish something right away.

Thoughts on Making a Comeback

Although Grace is a busy mother, she is inspired by Aimee’s comeback Romeo and His Butterfly Lover <羅密歐與祝英台>. Still interested in acting, Grace said fans still recall her old works.

“When I went to Cheung Chau for volunteer work earlier, a local asked if I recall coming here in the past for filming,” Grace shared.  Jogging her memory, Grace reminisced her time in Cheung Chau where she spent three to four weeks going back and forth to film for Captain of Destiny <張保仔>.

Smiling at her memories, Grace said, “I hope I’ll get another chance to take part in a series.” Asked if she just wanted to film one more drama, she said, “I don’t want to give myself that much hope, but I think I can do one more drama!”

  1. Whenever I see Grace is part of a show (even if it is not a drama, but a talk show) my family and I would just turn off the TV. Firstly, everyone would agree she can’t act although she may have a pretty face. Secondly, I still can’t understand up to this day, why does she need to put on that huge, big smile, every time she utters a single word, just like Aimee Chan! It just looks so Fake and unnatural. You don’t see any top show host like, Dodo or Wang Ah Jie doing that, do you?

  2. Please stay home and play your role as a mom and wife. I would definitely not watch anything that you’re in Grace. Sorry. You just don’t have hat it takes to be an actress. And its weird to see a Chinese who doesn’t look like a Chinese acting as a Chinese.

  3. I actually don’t mind Aimees acting. It’s not the greatest, but it’s her real life personality that makes me not mind her acting. Grace is a different story, she’s beautiful but she just won’t shut up. And she just doesn’t seem as humble. Hence I can’t stand watching her bad acting.
