“Happy Ever After?” Disrupted Due to Pandemic
With rising cases in the past few days, Hong Kong appears to be on the verge of a sixth wave of the pandemic. It is rumored that 20 members of TVB drama Happy Ever After’s <婚後事> cast and crew have been diagnosed with COVID-19, including stars Yoyo Chen (陳自瑤) and Lai Lok Yi (黎諾懿).
During an earlier phase of the pandemic, many artistes including Kalok Chow (周嘉洛), Crystal Fung (馮盈盈), and Nancy Wu (胡定欣) succumbed to the virus, and TVB City underwent full sanitization. Many filming projects experienced a lengthy hiatus for safety precautions.
As concern heightened over whether the station is facing another wave of positive cases, the producer of Happy Ever After? denied the rumors of the crew falling ill and expressed that he would let TVB handle the issue. Although filming has not stopped, it has been delayed due to difficulties in finding shooting locations with the surge in cases. He expects that filming will be completed in mid July.
Speaking with the press, Lai Lok Yi confirmed that he is feeling fine and thanked everyone for their concern. He stated that he has not seen any of their crew falling ill, and that they still have filming scheduled on July 23.
As the drama splits screen time between three couples, Him Law (羅子溢) expressed that he did not have to film his scenes for now. “I’ve been resting at home, and will resume work in a few days,” he said. Unaware of any disruption to the filming schedule, he said, “I haven’t heard of the news, so I will have to clarify with the crew about the current situation.”
Joey Law (羅天宇) added that he has not been at work for several days, and is also unsure of the situation as well.
