Hawick Lau and Yang Mi’s Daughter “Misses Her Parents”
Since Hawick Lau (刘恺威) and Yang Mi’s (杨幂) divorce, the duty of taking care of their daughter Noemi has fallen on her paternal grandparents in Hong Kong. Grandfather Lau Dan (刘丹) revealed recently that the 6-year-old hardly gets to see her parents, and misses them very much!
Despite their vastly different backgrounds, Hawick and Yang Mi had quickly fallen in love and gotten married in 2014 when she became pregnant. Despite her thriving career, she put her career on the back pedal and welcomed Noemi into the world that same year. However, their marriage lasted for a short four years, as the couple was often separated long distance because of their busy filming schedules.
Video Calls Daddy Every Day
Attending a publicity event in early March, Lau Dan shared that Noemi has not seen her parents for some time. When Hawick comes home, she would refuse to let go of his hand, afraid that Daddy might leave home again for a prolonged period due to filming in China. While he did not mention anything about Yang Mi, Lau Dan spilled that his granddaughter would video call Hawick every day while having her meals.
Noemie is very close her grandparents, and would watch her grandfather Lau Dan’s Come Home Love: Lo and Behold <愛·回家之開心速遞> every evening before going to bed.
Netizens have left comments sympathizing with Noemi who only has her grandparents’ companionship in her childhood. The situation was probably due to the family wanting her to be schooled in Hong Kong, while Hawick could not bring her along to work since he would be in China. Some also wondered if Yang Mi had not seen her daughter for some time due to the pandemic.

Hawick Lau and Yang Mi at Odds Over Daughter’s TV Appearance?
It’s not like Noemi’s parents are poor and need work to survive. Childhood only happens once. Can’t they squeeze some time for her?
@mi520
OH YEAH?
I can list you all the rich celeb couples working right now and leaving their kid’s childhood to others. Why don’t you say that to all celebs?
@yoyo ok, can’t all rich celeb couples working right now and leaving kid’s childhood to others squeeze some time for her/him/them?
LOL, I’m not pointing fingers just at them. I’m just disappointed for the children who have to suffer this kind of childhood. Chill~
Parenthood is just a checkbox for some people, not a priority. At least she has caring and supportive grandparents. I have a lot of respect for Lau Dan.
