“Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” Breaks New Ratings High as Romantic Tension Grows

Starring Shin Min Ah and Kim Seon Ho, tvN’s seaside romance Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha hit all new high ratings, as viewers become fully engrossed in the latest romantic development between the lead characters.

Although dentist Dr. Yoon (Shih Min Ah) finds Chief Hong (Kim Seon Ho) handsome and is impressed by his kindness, she tells him their romance is impossible because she is of a different “social position” due to her higher education. She feels awkward when she finds out Chief Hong had actually graduated from a prestigious university, but for a mysterious reason returned to his coastal hometown of Gongjin to take on odd part-time jobs instead. While Chief Hong openly denies he likes Dr. Yoon, he gives her time to let go of preconceived judgements as their mutual attraction grows….

According to Nielsen Korea, episode 5 of Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, which aired on September 10, took first place in its time slot across all cable channels with an average nationwide rating of 9.996 percent. Among the key demographic of viewers aged 20 to 49, the drama achieved a new personal best by peaking at 5.7 percent.

These ratings are garnered as Min Ah remembered her drunk kiss with Seon Ho that took place at their meeting in the latter’s home. The simple but sweet kiss instantly made ratings leap dramatically, as reflected in its highest score yet of 10.27 percent for episode 6.

Considering Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha only averaged nationwide ratings of 6.8 percent in episode 1, its rise of 3.4 percent in the latest episode is a testament of the power of its charming leads and the drama’s engaging offbeat humor.

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha’s ratings is even more impressive especially when it is compared to another tvN drama, Vincenzo, which averaged 10.4 percent during its 20-episode run earlier.

In addition to the successful ratings, Seon Ho also topped the “Most Talked Actor” list for two consecutive weeks. Many fans praised his dynamic performance and even commented that he is setting new standards for the most ideal boyfriend!
