How Charmaine Sheh Dealt with a Co-star Who Picked On Her
Entering the entertainment industry after placing as the third runner-up in 1997’s Miss Hong Kong pageant, award-winning actress Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼) has established herself as a leading figure in television through years of hard work, enjoying continued popularity in recent years.
Tolerated a Co-star Thrice Before Taking Action
On the recent program An Exciting Offer <令人心動的Offer6>, she recalls being bullied by a co-star when she was just starting out. Asked on the show if she had ever faced any inappropriate conflicts at work, Charmine opened up about her experience as a newcomer.
“When I was a rookie, there were other actors who would bully me. For example, they’d criticize me, saying I’d blocked their light or stood in the wrong place. They’d point this out in front of everyone, a bit like trying to assert their dominance over me. I’d stay calm, though, because I’m a very composed person. I didn’t want to affect the progress or morale of the team. But I usually give everyone three chances. If they go beyond that, then I’ll take action.”
Unexpectedly, this male actor crossed Ah She’s line, and she eventually reached her limit, recalling how she firmly confronted him. “The last time he did it, criticizing me in front of a crowd again, after we finished filming that scene, I told him, ‘Come here.’ I remember we were on location. I pulled him aside and said, ‘I give everyone three chances, and you’ve used them all. Don’t bully me again; I’ll stand my ground because I didn’t do anything wrong. I don’t have eyes in the back of my head; it’s not like I’m blocking your light or your shot on purpose. If you wanted me to move over, you could’ve just asked nicely.’”
Intimidated, the said male actor did not dare to pick on her ever again!
