Hu Ge Admits New Romance
Mainland actor Hu Ge (胡歌) currently has a new romantic interest in his life. While filming upcoming Mainland Chinese drama Lie Chang <猎场> in Hangzhou, Hu Ge allegedly spent the night in his hotel with a pretty lady, who was subsequently identified as Lin Xiao (林晓), a former classmate of Cecilia Liu (刘诗诗).
On December 14, 2015, Hu Ge started filming for Lie Chang at dawn. Meanwhile, Hu Ge’s assistant picked up Lin Xiao from the airport and drove her to Hu Ge’s hotel. After entering Hu Ge’s room, she did not leave. At about 8 p.m. that night, Hu Ge finally wrapped up filming and rushed back to his hotel. The next morning, Hu Ge and Lin Xiao were photographed leaving the same room together.
Lin Xiao hails from a well-to-do family, and was once the school belle of the Beijing Dance Academy. Her mother works as an associate professor, and her father is a shareholder in a conglomerate that dabbles in multiple industries, including property, food and beverage, and hospitality. Lin Xiao allegedly entertained thoughts of developing a career in the entertainment industry, but this was met with strenuous objections from her parents. She thus faded into anonymity after graduating from the Beijing Dance Academy in 2011.
Hu Ge’s Love Life
Since his high-profile breakup with Maggie Jiang (江疏影) last August, Hu Ge has been devoting all his time and energy to work, consecutively starring in three major dramas, The Disguiser <伪装者>, Nirvana in Fire” <琅琊榜>, and Good Time <大好时光>. There were rumors that he reconciled with Maggie, as well as rumors between Hu Ge and his respective co-stars in Good Time and The Disguiser, Wang Xiao Chen (王晓晨) and Wang Le Jun (王乐君). None of these rumors turned out to be true.
After news of Hu Ge and Lin Xiao’s new romance surfaced, the 33-year-old actor finally acknowledged the relationship. He wrote on his Weibo blog, “Thank you everyone for your concern. In the upcoming days, I hope everyone will give me some personal space. Aside from filming dramas, I hope to return to a simple life.”

He didn’t really acknowledge it? Congrats if true. Personally, I’ve always wanted him and Ady An to date in real life…thought they looked really good in that one movie.
@pleikupho
I love him and Ady too but I think they are close friends only. However, who really knows what can happen in the future?
This is so wrong! He is dating a chick who is only 3 or 4 years younger. Doesn’t he know that any male celebrity worth his salt should go for someone with a huge age gap? LOL!!
Maybe what apply to Hong Kong does not necessarily apply to China.
@aiya That is a very funny remark about dating much younger female girlfriend. 🙂
Is Liu Shi Shi the matchmaker for them in this case? I’m just wondering. 🙂
@aiya Hu Ge’s taste.
China artists have wives with huge age gap arent rare.
@alluka
december/may relationships are very prevalent in Asia nowadays.
@aiya
He’s 33. Doubt he would date someone who’s 15 years old.
Lin Xiao looks kinda witchy in that photo. But if rumors are true, congrats to him. At least she’s not some teenager.
Amongst all Hu Ge girls, I feel pity for Xue Jia Ning the most. Perhaps she is older than Hu Ge so she has more understandings for him and his (blind) filial respect to mother. Hope she can find a partner, too.
@alluka
Yes, I remember that ex g/f, but what exactly happened?
How come they broke up, I hv only heard bits n pieces from a talk show or some other but not many details.
What about his filial respect for mother, broke up bc of mom?
Yea, even thou she’s older, she’s still very cute n pretty doesnt even look older than he is.
@kiki
I remember hearing that Hu Ge’s parents prefer him to date someone younger than him and do not like the Jie Di( older sister and younger brother) type of relationship. That is how some traditional folks are. My mom is the same way so I can understand that but luckily my mom is better about that now. Hopefully his parents will loosen up in that area as well.
If this is true,congrats to him but if not then he still has a lot of time to search for his partner. Good luck to him.
@hetieshou
LORD, when someone mentioned filial I knew it’s something like that. I don’t want to say mama’s boy or anything I mean nothing wrong w/being filial but still breaking up over age differences is really a none issue these days.
My mom’s aunt has a son who was in the same situation, he’s in his mid 40’s now and still single. Why? because he broke up w/this girl who was his college sweetheart cuz mama didn’t approve. Now, who’s sad now? haha lol…
I am not saying people should do the older sis/young guy thing but what matters is the person more than age no? And that ex girl of He Gu was so cute, I had no idea who his exes were as well as her being older, just stumbled upon it on a talk show and they were showing her face, she was so cute looking and everything. Oh well, when you need mama’s approval, it’s just hard.
@kiki
I totally agree with you. I think it is great to be filial to your parents but if you have to sacrifice your own happiness just to please your parents,you begin to wonder if it is the right thing to do. Mama boys can cause problems in the long run. I remember one of friends who married one and they eventually divorced because he let his mom control everything. I find that so sad. I really hope his parents realize how much they are hurting their son and will let him marry who he loves.
@kiki His mother doesnt like Xue Jia Ning because she is older than him and she isnt from a prominent family. The mother said that Hu Ge can do much better. Xue Jia Ning is a girl from a small town far from Shanghai as well.
When Hu Ge had the accident, XJN spent 01 years doing nothing but took care of him. She actually can get to the top of her career at that moment but she gave up for him. After that, HG broke up with her due to his mother and XJN agreed. However, her career cannot come back to track anymore and in her age, it is hard for her to become a top star. Nevertheless, she has never said any bad word about HG or his mother. Such a nice girl. Luck doesnt stay by her side. Hope she can find a good man soon.
Rumour that HG cried over XJN sometimes but for his mother, he only can keep XJN as a friend. For the new girl, she is Shanghai girl, rich and younger than him. So she can get the approval from HG mother easily.
@alluka
Thanks for the extra info. I heard bits of it here and there,but I did not hear about his mom disapproving because she is not from a prominent family. I find that so sad that his mom is like that. My mom would never allow me to be with or marry a guy who has a mother like that. My family and I would all suffer in the long run. I think his family came from humble beginnings too so for his mom to be that way is truly sad. Hu Ge should have rebelled for his own happiness. That is where I find being filial has its limits. In my family,my 4th brother bought home a girl my parents hated but he rebelled and my parents had to accept even though they were not happy. However, now that they are married and have 2 kids,my parents began to see the good things in her( she is now my sister in law) and they are all happy now.
I really wonder if Hu Ge will ever find a girl as sweet as his XJN? He has many good female friends but sadly they are only friends. I also wonder if his mother would approve of Han Xue since she comes from a well known family too. But then they are only friends.
I saw Hu Ge cry many times but I did not know who it was for. I am guessing it may be because of XJN. At least they can still be good friends and sometimes maybe being close friends for life is even better?
Congratulations if it is true. I wish him a lot of happiness in his love life since his buddy Yuan Hong seems so happy after he came out with his girlfriend. Maybe he is smart to choose someone that is familiar with the entertainment circle yet not a part of it. Good luck, Hu Ge! I look forward to further good news from him!
I just noticed something. This website says it’s Hong kong celebrities news but it also covers mainland. Weird…
Yup! I thought I am the only one wondering why more and more china news here. lol. Well, HK is undeniably part of China now. Is this the reason why????
@dramadrama lol ikr. I’m only here for the Hong Kong celebrities. Jayne should just either post articles about Hong Kong, or change it to “Chinese celebritities’ news” or even “Asia’s celebrities’ news” to keep the website’s integrity. Plus, right now it says Hong Kong news, and then also covers mainland and even Taiwan’s news, so to me it’s read as mainland and Taiwan are part of Hong Kong not the other way around lol.
@kaykay408
I do not see what the big deal is. If you just want to read HK news,then just read the HK celeb ones and ignore the Mainland and Taiwan ones. Plus,I think it is more interesting to read mainland and Taiwan news instead of just HK celeb news only.
@hetieshou I agree with you 100% on this. People are free with whatever articles they want to read. I considered this website as Chinese entertainers’ news (HK, Taiwan, China, Singapore, etc.).
Dramas4me aka J.H.
@dramas4me
Thanks and I just skim through the titles of the articles each time I come here. If the article headlines sound interesting then I will read it. But if not,then I just skip it because why spend time reading news that you are not interested in?
I totally agree that this is a Chinese entertainment news site so it should not be restricted to only HK entertainment news.
