IU and Byeon Woo Seok Star in New Drama
South Korean artistes IU and Byeon Woo Seok are confirmed to be starring in a new romcom titled The 21st Century Prince’s Wife
The drama takes place in an alternate Korea with a constitutional monarchy. IU plays Sung Hee Joo, an heiress who has everything but only has a “commoner” status. Sung Hee Joo is described as an intelligent and beautiful woman with a strong competitive nature.
Byeon Woo Seok plays Prince Lee Anh; however due to being the king’s second son, Lee Anh owns very little in his life. Prince Lee Anh has always concealed himself but everything changed when he met Sung Hee Joo.
Fans are looking forward to seeing IU and Byeon Woo Seok’s chemistry especially since the two had previously worked together in 2016 drama Scarlet Heart where Byeon Woo Seok played the ex-boyfriend of IU’s character.
After nearly a decade, the two artistes have developed their acting career and are recognized for their acting skills. IU received positive reviews for appearance in My Mister, Hotel Del Luna, and Broker and was praised for her emotional range. Meanwhile, Byeon Woo Seok’s most recent work Lovely Runner propelled his career to new heights and the actor received numerous endorsement projects.
The 21st Century Prince’s Wife is expected to premiere in the second half of 2025.
