Jack Hui, Carmaney Wong, and Karl Ting Join New TVB Talent Competition
With Eric Tsang (曾志偉) and Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍) returning to TVB in managerial roles, many innovative new variety shows have launched this year. Given that Dub of War <好聲好戲> was such a success, TVB wants to continue with another competitive show Flying Race <飛越木人巷>, where artistes will showcase their multiple talents. The winner will land a hosting gig on a variety show or a leading role in a drama.
Given the promising opportunity, many artistes such as Carmaney Wong (黃嘉雯), Rosita Kwok (郭柏妍), Kayan Yau (游嘉欣), Jack Hui (許家傑), Karl Ting (丁子朗), and Danny Hung (孔德賢) are eager to join.
After winning Miss Hong Kong 2019, Carmaney was given hosting and acting opportunities. “I haven’t entered a competition since the pageant. I want to challenge myself, and this is also an excuse for self-improvement. If I win, I hope to have the opportunity to play the villain or antagonist, so audiences can understand a villain’s path to evil.”
After winning second runner-up in Miss Hong Kong 2020, Rosita has already participated in a drama and various variety shows. “I realized my love for acting after I was given the chance to film a drama. I love any role that is given to me, but I would love to play a flight attendant because they are so pretty,” she said.
Kayan, who earned her fame in Hong Kong Love Stories <香港愛情故事>, wants to build upon her experience in the industry and find ways to challenge herself in this new show. “I just started acting, but I am already interested in every role. I’ve always loved sci-fi as a genre, so I hope to film a historic sci-fi drama.”
Jack, who is known for Come Home Love: Lo and Behold <愛·回家之開心速遞>, hopes competing in the talent show will bring new opportunities. “I want everyone to see another side of me. I competed in Mr. Hong Kong and danced in Strictly Come Dancing <舞動奇跡> before, but I still want to prove that I am a passionate actor even at the age of 38. If I could be the lead, I hope the drama is either about basketball or dancing.”
Karl, who won Mr. Hong Kong 2016 first runner-up, also wants to challenge himself and believes that this is a great learning opportunity.
As for Danny, he hopes to star in a sports-related drama and viewers to see the hard work athletes put into sports.
