Jackie Chan Vows to Protect the Chinese Flag
In an interview with CCTV, martial arts superstar Jackie Chan (成龍) shared his heartfelt thoughts about the current political situation in Hong Kong, saying that he is “hurt” and worried” for Hong Kong’s future.
The 65-year-old joined the “China’s five-star red flag has 1.4 billion flag bearers” movement, telling his followers in Weibo that he is not only a Hong Konger, but also a flag bearer, and he will protect and love his nation.
“I’ve traveled to many countries during these years,” said Jackie. “Our country is developing quickly. I really felt proud to be Chinese when I’m in those countries. The five-star red flag is respected all over the world.”
“Safety, stability, and peace are just like air,” he said. “It’s only when you lose it when you realize how important it is. I was born in Hong Kong. It is also my home. China is my country. I love my country and I love my home. I hope Hong Kong will soon recover its peace.”
