Jackson Wan Shares His Pain in “High Alone”

Three years ago, Jackson Wang (王嘉爾) released his first solo album MAGIC MAN, which reached 15th place on the international music charts, ranked third in album sales, and garnered over 123 million global streams. Jackson recently released his first single of 2025, “High Alone. In the music video, his character from MAGIC MAN makes a return. Jackson hopes that fans can feel his inner emotions, personal growth, and musical journey.

Released after Jackson’s one-year hiatus, the album tells the story of his growth since debuting, including his experiences in life and work, with the goal of presenting his most authentic self. The album is divided into four chapters, each showcasing Jackson in different stages of his life, starting with the feelings of anger after not being validated to moving into deep self-reflection and loss of identity, followed by a process of redefining himself, and finally finding inner peace while shedding the labels imposed by the public.

Reflecting on the origins of MAGIC MAN, he shared, “Creating MAGIC MAN was a way to face my pain. It was like a mask, representing my darkest emotions and inner world. I once told the world that everyone needs to find their own magic. During my time away from the stage, I kept asking myself questions, only to realize I never truly faced them honestly. What I experienced was the cruel reality of human nature. I was in a very dark place at the time, both mentally and physically. I even thought that I would never recover. I once avoided, faced it, was destroyed, then put myself back together and tried to accept it.”
