Jason Chan Pursues His Homeowning Dream
Jason Chan (陳智燊) was given the cue to stop smiling whenever the director yelled action on the set of his new commercial ad. Known for his sunny and youthful image, the 35-year-old TVB star admitted that he found it awkward to suddenly transition from a grinning youth to a cool “chok agent.”
“It’s my third year endorsing this brand. In the past, I’ve always had some female models to shoot very sweet and romantic ads with me, but now, I’m flying solo. I portray an agent in the commercial so I have to be really cool with my image. I do consider this a breakthrough, because I really don’t know how to be ‘chok’ – I just like to smile!”
Jason’s popularity has been on the rise since starring in Missing You <幸福摩天輪>, his first television drama as a lead actor. Some sources noted that Jason has taken Moses’ place as the “King of Ads”, and is a popular endorser for many products due to his positive image. Jason’s commercial price has risen to a six-figure sum.
“I am not a big spender. Aside from my car, I am not that picky when it comes to food and clothes. I can save up to a five-figure sum every month. I really hope that I can save enough money to purchase my own home. Being a homeowner is my dream.”

Never even considered this guy much of an actor…….all his roles on TVB are crap and his acting is even worse……..at 35, he’s not much of an up-and-comer………more of an old has-been.
what a mean thing to say, how can you mistreat someone for something that makes no sence, his age? you disrespect yourself and others speaking like that. i did not know about him before, but after seeing this article i will be sure to find out more about someone with a positive attitude and behavor . and dont throw things at people for being genuine. disapointed.

My comment was a generic one concerning the aging of TVB’s stable of “siu sang” which had long been a discussion topic in this forum.

I’m surprised that at this age he still hasn’t bought a property though (whether in the UK or in HK).
Either way – good for Jason on making some success out of his changed career. To go from hospital management/admin to acting/hosting is very different. Takes a lot of courage to do that! 🙂
Properties are getting more and more expensive. I can understand why he can’t afford it, especially in HK.
I’m just surprised that people don’t buy property sooner… I’m quite familiar with property investment.
I would simply think most people would buy property as soon as possible so that they have some kind of ‘financial cushion’ …. and that back when JC was a hospital administrator, it would have been a good time to buy in the UK….. although i suppose the equity would be very low given the current exchange rates!!!
It is a huge financial commitment. Moreover the banks may not have been helpful at all. And most probably many may be aiming too high.
I have no problems with the smiling, his acting, or his age. I do have a problem with him acting cute (or seeming to act cute). I think at 35, a more mature and un-cute image would be more suitable. In my opinion, fun and funny, okay but cute, not okay.

Agreed. He can be positive and charming, charismatic to the audience and liven up a crowd… but ‘cute’ should probably not be too high on the list….
Perhaps it is his baby face and dimples which bring out this look.
I find it funny that Jason is now wearing glasses all the time even though he doesn’t need them. Apparently people think he looks better with some eyewear than without!!!
Does Jason rent his own home or is he still living with his parents?
