Jimmy Lin’s Treatment Plan and Recovery Outlook
It has been a week since Jimmy Lin’s (林志穎) terrible car crash. His condition and recovery progress continues to be on the forefront of the media and netizen’s minds. The 47-year-old has already completed his first in a series of several upcoming surgeries.
The first surgery entails titanium alloy implants to the back of his hand. With advancements in technology, titanium is considered one of the most biocompatible metal for surgery implants due to its resistance to corrosion from bodily fluids. The implants typically do not interfere with post-recovery movement.
It generally takes about three months for the fracture to heal. Jimmy will be continuously monitored, with consistent x-ray examination to track his recovery progress. Depending on his recovery progress, rehabilitation and subsequent surgery and care plans may be moved up.
Following conclusion of his treatment plan for bone fractures, Jimmy will then undergo 3D reconstruction and printing of bone replacements. He will also have facial fracture and reconstruction surgery. His care team is hopeful that mobility will be restored within six months to one year.
