Jinny Ng Halted Her Singing Career for Love for 2 Years
Back in 2017, singer Jinny Ng (吳若希) suddenly went on a hiatus at the height of her career to give birth to her daughter and marry Macanese heir Alex Ho (何兆鴻). Not many artistes would dare to fall in love and date while their career is in full swing, but Jinny resolutely faded out for two years to build a family. “I thought I was a career-oriented person, but it turns out I’m a slave of love. I’m good-for-nothing when it comes to love,” the 27-year-old said.
Although Jinny steadily rose to “number one sister” status at Voice Entertainment from 2014 to 2016, she was missing from the spotlight for two years. Those two years were enough for a newcomer to replace Jinny, but career is for a while, and love is forever. Today, Jinny has the best of both worlds – a fulfilled career and marriage. So who can say this “good-for-nothing” made the wrong decision?
She Relies on Her Memories to Sing Love Songs
Not only is Jinny devoted to love in her personal life, but also her work life. While Jinny’s boss, Herman Ho (何哲圖), asks her to focus on love songs because dramas need them, Jinny also expresses her affection to her husband through those songs. “Maybe everyone thinks I’m mean toward my husband, but in fact, any woman’s strength is the result of their past weakness. I have fallen and gotten hurt in the past, but I have become strong today. At the same time, love songs allow me to vent,” Jinny expressed.
She frankly admitted her past relationship served as inspiration for her song “Each Love Relationship is Wrong” <每段愛還是錯>, which is the sub-theme song of TVB drama Wonder Women <多功能老婆>. The singer shared, “I once thought a person was very suitable for me, but the whole relationship was bound to fail due to the other party’s family and my career. Of course, I didn’t think it was a problem because I really loved [that person] at the time, so I chose to stick to it.”
This experience works well to her advantage in that she can reference it when needed for singing or acting.
She Communicates with Her Husband Using Lyrics
“Love is Priceless” <愛情無價> is also featured in Wonder Women as the theme song. The tune reflects Jinny’s current approach to dealing with relationships. “The content of the song is actually a real situation that happened between my husband and I. There was an incident at home at the time – my husband was going through a difficult period, but I didn’t say anything to him because I’m not the type to say mushy things, but I expressed it through this song,” Jinny said.
