Jung Ho Yeon to Film “Disclaimer” With Cate Blanchett
After Squid Game became Netflix’s most-watched series ever, actress Jung Ho Yeon also experienced an explosion of popularity. The 27-year-old impressively won Best Actress at the 2022 SAG Awards for her debut performance. After signing with American talent agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA), Ho Yeon is set to star in Apple TV Plus’ original thriller series, Disclaimer.
Based on Renée Knight’s novel of the same name, Disclaimer centers around a TV documentary journalist Catherine (Cate Blanchett), who is known for exposing the illegal acts of large corporations. At the peak of her career, she also seems to have a perfect life with a loving husband and son. However, Stephen (Kevin Kline) breaks down this illusion when he writes a novel exposing a secret from 20 years ago Cate had hoped would remain hidden forever. Ho Yeon will play Kim, Catherine’s ambitious, hardworking, and eager-to-please assistant who knows that her boss’ work could give her a breakthrough in her career. Other members of the cast include Sacha Baron Cohen and Kodi Smit-McPhee.
The series will be written and directed by Alfonso Cuaron, whose Oscar-winning films include Gravity and Roma. Disclaimer is the first series in his multiple year contract with Apple TV Plus, and is also the first project that he will have complete authority over the direction of each episode. The release date for Disclaimer has not been announced yet, but it is reasonable to expect it to be in 2023 at the earliest.
