Kara Wai Tears Up After Completing TVB’s “Detective Investigation Diaries”
TV Queen Kara Wai (惠英紅) has just completed her final scenes for her upcoming TVB crime drama series Detective Investigation Diaries <惠英紅>, and it was a bittersweet farewell.
Though general principal photography hasn’t wrapped up yet, Kara has completed her portion of filming. The award-winning actress teared up as she thanked the cast and crew of the series. She apologized for the stress and trouble that she has caused on set, and professed that she loves every single member of the cast and crew dearly.
“My dears!” she said. “I really had a great time working with you all. Perhaps because my character has a lot of hysteria, a lot of you may find me difficult during this process. I sincerely hope that you did not mind. I know sometimes I would have a temper, but I hope you all understand that I truly love all of you.”
Kara was in tears after delivering her speech, but the cast and crew gave her nothing else but love. They all shouted, “We love you too!”
Producer Kwan Shu Ming (關樹明) presented Kara with a bouquet of flowers to thank her for her time on set. Kara’s costars including Philip Keung (姜皓文), Vincent Wong (王浩信), Mandy Wong (黃智雯), Alice Chan (陳煒), and Lokyi Lai (黎諾懿) all huddled together for photos. Kara said, “I am truly thankful to you all. I really had a great time, and I can see that we all work great together as a team. Sometimes, in other productions, I’ll witness fights between actors, sometimes competition, and other times just passing through with as little effort as possible, but I did not see anything like that here. You were all very serious with your craft!”
Kara continued to say that her role is not much of a talker. To get into the mindset of her character, Kara had to serious and focused. She teared up again, and said, “It was really difficult. I had a lot of hysterical scenes. Sometimes I would rush others, because I didn’t want that emotion to go away. I really gave them a lot of stress. Everyone had to be completely perfect with each take in order to accommodate me. To be honest, I’m going to really miss you guys. But I’m also happy, because my scenes are finally done!”
Kara ended her speech by saying, “By the time this drama broadcasts, I hope viewers will be able to see that fire, and that teamwork we have. It’s important to deliver this message well, because as actors, we all know how important it is for the entire crew to share the same goal.”

kara is such a great versatile actress. rewatched a few scenes of her dramas w/ tvb, i just don’t understand why tvb wasted such a good asset.
@m0m0
She definitely is and loved her late brother’s acting too. They are all very talented.
“Sometimes, in other productions, I’ll witness fights between actors, sometimes competition, and other times just passing through with as little effort as possible, but I did not see anything like that here.”
Does that mean these things happened during the filming of The Defected? LOOL. Jokes aside she is a master of her craft throughout her career. Productions from this producer have been top notch so I will definitely support this series!
@bubbles23 Kara was very active in both HK and Mainland China acting scene in the past few years. So it could be at any productions. Btw, some China drama actor/actress sometimes get into controversy but not memorizing their lines but uttering 123456 (true story). Because their voices will be dubbed and some of them got cast due to their company investing money into the drama production.
@sehseh omg that’s so infuriating but hilarious.
Definitely Looking forward to this.. good cast especially Kara and Phillip. With my fav TVB artists Alice, Vincent & benjamin.
