Karena Ng’s Husband Brian Shi’s Incredible Family Wealth
After dating for five years, Karena Ng (吳千語) and wealthy third-generation heir Brian Shi (施伯雄) officially tied the knot last December. The couple denied pregnancy rumors and plan to hold a wedding reception in Italy this August. Due to Karena’s preference for dating rich men and living luxuriously, it was unsurprising she would eventually marry Brian who possessed impressive generational wealth.
The Shi family’s net worth is estimated to be worth over $10 billion Hong Kong dollars. A leaked video revealed the family’s massive luxury mansion which boasted a study room filled with antiques, calligraphy, and paintings. A crystal chandelier hung in the large hallway, which was festively decorated for the Lunar New Year. A bulky pile of $100 bills were apparently ready to be stuffed into red pockets.

The Shi family’s generational wealth began with Brian’s grandfather, Shi Ziqing (施子清). In addition to being a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (a political advisory body in China), he was also an entrepreneur and one of three “elders” of the Fujian gang. Shi Ziqing has four sons – the oldest of which is Brian’s father.
Karena was not be the first actress to marry into the Shi family. Former Miss Hong Kong 2004 contestant, Jaymee Tang (鄧慧琦), married Shi Ziqing’s youngest son, Brian’s fourth uncle, in 2011. Although Jaymee did not place in the pageant, her short stint in the industry still led to dissatisfaction from the Shi family when she became involved with her current husband. Although both Jaymee and Karena were not initially favored by the Shi family, they eventually won over their husbands’ elders.

Before the vicious comments start, has anyone wondered if she is rich herself? Like before she entered the industry. Usually, it is people with connections and money that enter the industry. I actually think she’s pretty and she is tall and her body proportions work in her favor i.e. long legs, but I have yet to see a breakthrough in acting. She is probably the best candidate to marry into a rich family: they want them pretty, young, and not too accomplished yet and will lessen their exposure after marriage. I just do not know why everyone is so vile with their comments when they couple is compatible and it is obvious that a young rich heir is not going to date an unattractive and older woman.
@jesspepperwang not sure about the current financial status but recall she was hinted in HK as a gold digger when she was dating Raymond. Her family was said to be quite well off as her father owed restaurant or some business but turned out that he was a hawker. Though I don’t know if that misinformation came from her or she didn’t clarify so silently misled the public. She wasn’t highly educated either, finishing high school or lower. And when she was with Raymond, she was seen with expensive bags, living in expensive residential area which as a young model and new actress and family background, shouldn’t be able to afford. On one hand, we could say that it was Raymond’s showering her with expensive gifts as he loved her but it didn’t make the public think highly of her. It was also rumoured that Raymond’s family never once approved of her.

I can never understand whey either. I feel her cute, pretty in quite a natural way as well. I think most HKer, Mainlanders just like to put a label on people and things in general. Like when someone is over 30 ish or whatever, they immediately call them leftovers. So when not as known or rich females date rich guys, they are automatically gold diggers and they do anything to dig more stuff up on how they were before, what their backgrounds were. I never read her KN’s details but from what I was hearing on interviews, she sounded pretty calm and collected and natural to me not like overly fake or anything esp after the I love u’s what 7 or 9 times from RL? She was very very bad then and the way she replied is very calm and not exaggerated in her replied in any way in my opinion so I never understood why they always try to dig up bad news on her just because she got expensive items from dating these dudes. It’s not like they rich folks will go to 99c stores getting gifts. lol And from what this husband sounded on the shows and such. He seems quite genuine and a gentleman if to compare but no really no need to compare as long as they are more compatible and timing was right.

The media and society are so unfair. Why is it when women look for a wealthy men, they are gold diggers and it comes with so many negative connotations yet no one bats an eye at all these wealthy sometimes old and ugly men go for young beautiful women. If she’s got the looks and want the lifestyle, use what god gave her and go for it, girl.
