Kathy Yuen Announces Pregnancy and Upcoming Wedding With Shing Mak
Al Cappuccino <反黑路人甲> actress, 33-year-old Kathy Yuen (湯怡), announced her pregnancy and upcoming wedding with 41-year-old choreography Shing Mak (麥秋成). Kathy has known Shing for half a year, but they kept their relationship low-profile because of their private nature.
They both posted their engagement photos on social media and Kathy wrote an announcement in the form of a love letter, “To Shing Mak, we had many previous opportunities to meet. To be together is fate and to be able to stay together is a blessing. Thanks to your arrival, it has made my life fulfilling and beautiful. It is also full of sweetness, colur, and happiness. I look forward to your support for the rest of my life.” She also hash tagged “Us three” disclosing that she was pregnant.
Shing also replied to her online, “To Kathy, love is really magical. We had passed by each other many times in life, but who would have thought that God planned to lock us onto each other. Your love has made me feel incomparable happiness. I also hope that my love can allow you to feel peace at heart, warmth, and happiness. I hope that we will be able to support each other in our roads ahead. I ask that you continue to support and teach me in life.” He also hash tagged “Us three.”
Many are surprised that Kathy and Shing are getting married, as they were not widely known to be a couple prior to their wedding announcement. Shing explained that they did not actively try to hide their relationship, “We’re like any other couple. We will go shopping, go out to eat, and, hang out with friends. Sometimes we’ll buy groceries together, and we would watch movies when theaters were still open. Our low-profile approach was in an attempt to protect each other. Though of course, our companies and managers knew that we were dating, I want to really thank them for the space and support that they have given us.”
The couple already applied for their marriage registration, and will be holding a simple wedding ceremony in February. Due to the pandemic restrictions on gatherings, they will not invite many guests and will hold a more elaborate ceremony after COVID-19 cases are more stable.
“Being able to meet the right person is magical, and it is a blessing to be able to find your life partner and have a child. We are currently working hard at preparing our small ceremony alongside regular work. The ceremony will be simple yet ceremonious. Due to current restrictions, we will hold the wedding banquet after the pandemic, and we hope to be able to party and celebrate such a beautiful occasion with friends and coworkers,” Shing said.
Kathy’s company, Emperor Group, is extremely happy over the actress’ engagement, “We’ve been receiving good news in waves and we are very excited! Our company congratulates Kathy and Shing sincerely from the bottom of our hearts. We are all very happy for them. Kathy joined our family when she was 16 years old, and we’ve watched her grow up. Now she is about to become a happy new bride, and a beautiful mother-to-be. All of Emperor Group would like to wish them happiness for life and may they be together forever.”
Ken Hung (洪卓立), who had dated Kathy for 11 years before breaking up, sent his congratulations, “As his good friend, of course I’ll congratulate and be happy for her. Wish both of them happiness and health!” Sisley Choi (蔡思貝) also sent her well wishes to her ex-boyfriend, Shing, “Congratulations! I’m happy for them and wish them happiness!”

Congratulations!!!! Sweet couple:)
Kathy is honestly soooo pretty. Al cappuccino didn’t do her justice with that styling and look. So happy for her and what a surprise but they said they’ve known each other for a while so when it’s right I guess it’s right.
She was cute in Al Cappuccino. I preferred her with Vincent the most in that series, but the ending and writing were a let down.
These type of situations of getting ‘knocked-up’ after a whirlwind romance of 6 months or so, and then having to get married before the baby comes is so ‘deja vu’, and usually leads to a divorce a few years down the road when the honeymoon period wears off………In their case, there won’t even be much of any honeymoon as they will be changing diapers soon enough…………It is so typical for women to get into these situations, after they break up with a BF that they have been together for so many years, and then they just automatically feel they need to marry the next guy just so they don’t lose anymore of their youth…………Kathy definitely did not have her head on straight, walking into this one!…………She had such a bright career ahead of her after Al Cappucino, and now she’s thrown it all away for this.
@yuaida Nope. Women (and men) should be able to start a family or have kids anytime they wish and still develop a successful career. If you are a fan of her work, you should support her even after she starts a family. It’s a modern world, i believe that mentality of yours should change and we move forward, not stay stagnant or go backwards.
@vvvwow it doesn’t matter what century you’re from, you only have 24 hours a day. Raising a child is hard work and you’re going to always sacrifice one to have more of the other, no matter who you are. Especially if you do contract jobs that last several months like acting. Many actors, men and women, will forgo jobs to spend more time with their family.
I never got the point of having a kid just so you can hire a babysitter or nanny to raise them in their infancy.
@vvvwow And when she’s going to need to take at least a year off of work for her pregnancy, and that’s a long time to disappear in the entertainment industry, especially if you’re not an A-lister.
@yuaida what’s wrong with that? Maybe after a long relationship people realize what they want in life so it’s not surprising their next relationship moves along quickly. Look at Myolie after Bosco, she’s happily married and even more successful in her career.
The idea that women have to halt their career to “change diapers” is so last century.
@bubbles23 @vvvwow THANK YOU. I can’t stand people who are so stuck in that ideology. The world has changed.
People who get married for the sake of kids usually don’t end up together for long. Not trying to be a downer, but it’s very true, no? But at the very least, they announced their pregnancy and status together which is a good change from the usual shameful hiding of the pregnancy.
My favorite couple has to be Winki Lai and her hubby who had a kid first and didn’t care to get married until later. Not getting married for the sake of pregnancy shows a lot of courage!
@coralie – Exactly!………And in Kathy’s case, dating someone for 6 months…..getting knocked up along the way, and rushing to get married before the baby bump really shows, is not exactly the start to a lifelong relationship……They are just in a honeymoon phase of dating…….That’s all it is………It will all wear off once these two find out the work behind caring for a child, while neither one of them is having a blossoming career yet………Kathy had so much potential while doing Al Cappucino………..But now?
@yuaida Totally agree with u, what was he thinking with only < 6 months in relationship and so fast got her pregnant?
