Katy Kung, James Ng, and Kayee Tam Share Their Regrets
While many people make mistakes due to impulsive decisions, others regret not having acted decisively. If they could go back to the past, Katy Kung (龔嘉欣), James Ng (吳業坤), and Kayee Tam (譚嘉儀) share their stories about what they wish to have done differently.
Katy Wished She Had Taken Music Lessons Seriously
Taking piano lessons when she was younger, Katy gave up after just one lesson. Rueful about not having taken it seriously back then, she regrets not knowing how to play any musical instrument now, “I’ve always thought it’s very elegant to know how to play an instrument. If I can turn back the clock, I would surely take it more seriously.”
Katy explained that she injured the tendons in her little finger before, and lacks flexibility in that finger now. “There were a few times on set when the director arranged for me to play the piano, but [due to the injury], I can’t even fulfill the dream now.”
Another of Katy’s regrets was not saving abandoned animals. “A few years ago, I had lived together with Elaine Yiu (姚子羚) and there were two stray cats jointly taken care of by the villagers.” When one of the kittens went missing, the two of them went searching for it and even stuck posters all over the streets, but had no success even after a week’s time. “The cat was very affectionate and would ‘send’ me to the metal gates every time I passed by–it was really obedient.”
James Regrets Not Saving an Abandoned Puppy
The actor-singer said, “It happened when I was 17 or 18, when I was taking my girlfriend back home. We found out about a shepherd puppy being abandoned by its owner in a garden. Although the puppy was a stray, it was very obedient. As I lived in public housing which disallowed pets, I went around looking for a potential owner. There was this girl who was keen and seeing her so enthusiastic, I trusted her and reminded her that she must bring the puppy for a shot. However she did not do it in the end, so we took the puppy from her to the vet, but it was too late and the puppy died.” The 32-year-old still blames himself for not bringing the puppy home though he may have received neighbors’ complaints, as he felt that he could have saved a life.
Kayee Hopes to Be a Flight Attendant Onscreen
As for singer Kayee Tam, she regrets not being able to fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a flight attendant due to her short height. But she also realizes the advantage of being petite, “When I studied overseas, all my peers had big builds while I was pampered by everyone due to my petite size, as they found me cute. Even now, I think being petite has its advantages–you don’t need to be afraid of hitting your head accidentally. As an artiste, I hope to experience being a stewardess vicariously in dramas, since my height wouldn’t be a limiting factor anymore!”
