Katy Kung Wants Both Career And Family

Nabbing the Best Actress award from hot favorite contestant Tavia Yeung (楊茜堯) this year, actress Katy Kung‘s (龔嘉欣) win faced doubt from dissenters who felt her win was less deserved. Addressing the criticism, the 35-year-old said “Every drama production is helmed by the hard work of both actors and crew members, but there is just one award. Bagging the win is a reminder for me to keep working hard so as not to let supporters down,”
Still Friends with Best Actress Hot Fave Tavia Yeung

Asked if her win affected her friendship with Tavia, Katy said the two became friends after co-starring in 2013’s period drama Storm in a Cocoon <守業者>. “We did many outtakes, Tavia saw that my umbrella was too flimsy, and specially gifted me a checkered red anti-UV foldable umbrella, which I kept and am using till this day!” She also added that Tavia had sent her photos and messages after the awards, in a testament to the two’s solid friendship.
Joking that her goal in 2025 is to start dating, Katy shared that she would not mind following in the footsteps of actor Alex Fong (方力申) to walk down the aisle in a flash marriage, should she meet someone suitable. “I used to be bothered by when I’d get married, but now I’ve had a change of opinion, and feel that marriage can also be a spur-of-the-moment decision, but of course I have to also respect my partner’s feelings,”
On Saving Up Since Young
Lamenting that it is challenging to meet someone who is willing to accommodate the irregular working hours of thespians like herself, the divorce of her own parents has not put her off marriage, Katy shared, adding that she would like to be able to handle both her family and career. “If I get married in future, taking care of the family will be my lifelong duty, but I also love acting and hope to be able to have both,” Her dream wedding is also as simple as it gets, “Having those who love me witnessing the occasion, that’ll be sufficient,”
While she is grateful to TVB Executive Catherina Tsang (曾勵珍), who shared the importance of saving up with her, Katy is no stranger to the art of managing her finances – she’s been diligently saving up since filming her first commercial at 16!
“I don’t spend extravagantly since young, and don’t have specific material desires,” she maintains that she does regular deposits and enjoys good financial security. However, the real “frugal goddess” to her would be good friend Grace Chan (陳凱琳). “Even if she is tugging two large-sized suitcases, she won’t take the cab, but will still take public transport home!”
