Kevin Cheng and Grace Chan Reminisce Their Scenes Together in “Blue Veins”
This past weekend, Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) treated the cast and crew of Blue Veins <殭> to a lavish three-table dinner banquet. Though the fantasy drama about vampires did not meet viewership ratings expectations, Kevin insisted to treat everyone to dinner to celebrate their work and efforts on the show.
“I hope everyone will continue to work hard!” said Kevin. “I really want to encourage everyone. This drama is different from typical dramas. There’s a lot of fight scenes and a lot of CGI. It’s a lot harder to film!”
Remarking that the style of Blue Veins is different from typical Hong Kong television dramas, Kevin added that high ratings shouldn’t be something to be expected. “Regardless, it’s a good thing see something different on the market so the viewers can have more choices. If every drama is to be the same, why not just watch Come Home Love <愛回家>? I do hope to try more new things.”
With the final episode airing next week, Kevin also teased fans about what they should expect in the upcoming episodes. “Two powerful male and female vampires will be introduced. They’re really good. Even my character won’t be able to beat them!” What about his relationship triangle with Kay Tse (謝安琪) and Grace Chan (陳凱琳)? “I don’t want to spoil it!”
Kevin and Grace Watch “Blue Veins” Together
The dinner gathering included Kevin’s girlfriend and costar, Grace Chan. The former Miss Hong Kong beauty queen said she and Kevin have been watching the drama together lately.
“[Kevin] was always so encouraging,” said Grace as she recalled their moments together while filming the show. “We didn’t start dating until after we finished the show. I can’t believe it’s already been over a year.”
Kevin, who plays an immortal superhuman, is reminded of his past when he meets the university student Yoyo (played by Grace), who resembles his wife from 400 years ago. “The scenes we did together were pretty sweet,” said Grace. “My friends watched them and now they understand why we got together.”
Grace, who was criticized for her poor acting performance during the broadcast of Captain of Destiny <張保仔> last year, is receiving nods for her noticeable improvement in Blue Veins. She said, “It’s true that I had a lot more confidence while filming Blue Veins.” Asking if Kevin’s DVDs had helped her improve her acting, she said with a laugh, “He had many scenes with me. Having him around to look after me did help me a lot!”
On shooting the series with Grace, Kevin said, “Indeed, there were many good memories.” In regards to his scenes with Grace, what were his best memories? “We shot our scenes around Valentine’s Day last year. During those days it was just me and her.”
Will Kevin and Grace work together again on future projects? “Not in the near future,” said Kevin. “We will have solo developments. She will not be in the drama I’m doing next.”

@dramadrama Kevin reminds me of a Taiwanese actor in the tv series Lord of Imprisonment 1999 that Adam Cheng as the lead. Only time will tell if Grace truly love Kevin or she just love his looks and the attention she gets of being his gf. She musts think that she is really pretty and great because he had fall for her and actually confimed their relationship and does many things for her and her family. I really wish they last because if they don’t people are going to laugh at her since every article of her is Kevin Kevin Kevin and how perfect he is and she can’t use that excuse personality not compatible. Between is Grace really famius in HK? How come every article in here is all about her. Seem like the female lead in Blue Veins is apparently Grace and not Kay according to the recent reports.
I’ll be very generous and say that he will still look reasonably good for another 5 to 10 years max. After that no amount of botox or fillers will help except for plastic surgery.
@isay I would say same thing with Raymond Lam.
He look his age in that photo above. Can’t be helped as working a lot and smoking does ruin the skin. His eyes looks tired for sure. Will be interesting to see if their relationship will last. I think someone mention they will probably married by end of this year or early next year and I gotta say, it kinda make sense with the way she talks about it, she is still infatuated for sure.

But then, after seeing the 80-yr-old Patrick Tse snatching up his 20 something squeeze. (CoCo is her name I think), I should have learned to be more acceptant of this unique HK cultural norm just like the ways they adopt silly English (Western) names..

@happybi The difference is that these May-December relationships happen in the US, or the West but they are considered abnormal and being frowned upon due to the Judeo-Christian influenced cultural moral codes and a greater voice for women who see these kinds of thing as a way of objectifying women (to be collected and paraded around by the old creeps). I remember both Ryan Reynold and Chris Martin had dated women 10 years to their junior and they were blasted to no end.
In Asia, and more specifically in HK, these pairings (especially among celebs) seem to be viewed as normal (as long as the men is the older partner) and even cheered on by fellow female fans.

I read he was a bar-tender in rural Spain where she met him while traveling. Now he is living off her in HK and travel the celebrity circle. Don’t even know how they well they communicate because I doubt her Spanish and his English are all that great.

@happybi I’m actually a girl. I know that he’s been very helpful to her during her brother car accident. I can tell he loves her very much but lots people had say she only loves his money but, again if she does loves his money only why she even bother having children with him right? I’m just gave examples to those who think Kevin is a grandpa so don’t get me wrong. I’m actually feel very happy for her. I’m also a huge fans of her.

For the past few years I think he is starting to look his age which is normal? I mean he is hitting the 50 soon? She looks skinny and you know how HK standards are w/skinny and they call them a great figure… Man they need their eyes checked. haha….

@happybi With a 22 year age gap, the difference will show up between them. Even if he has make up, that is physical appearance…the girl must love him for what he really is.

I do think that Grace has improved in Blue Veins in the bits that I have watched, but it does not help that her Yoyo is not likeable. It is kinds of like Kristy Yeung as Wong Chun Chun in MDWAV series. Nice girl but annoying as she kept clinging onto the male lead and keeping the female lead away.

…Her friends saw why/how they fell in love from watching the drama? Someone please explain to me how that’s possible when I don’t even see it? I didn’t feel their chemistry was off the charts. If anything, I thought they were kinda meh. But Kevin is meh with Kay too. Basically Kevin was not throwing lovey vibes to either actresses in the drama or if he was, I didn’t feel it.
@coralie I dont see their chemistry at all in Blue Veins…maybe because his character doesn’t like Yoyo, but I didnt see the chemistry neither when Grace was his wife. I don’t see their chemistry off screen either. Even though they are praising each other at these events, they seem kind of distance. I guess Kevin doesn’t like to show his affection to Grace in the public since that can be annoying to some fans.
So I’m not the only one who thinks Grace’s acting is more tamed here. Another reason to love the couple more. He makes her a better actress. 🙂
@ladykriselle Grace’s acting is OK for a newbie, and she does show that she can learn. She is a smart girl, I am sure she will pick up some acting tips from the veterans or from watching herself on screen. Let’s give her some time. 🙂

@isay no way! Janet is not obsessive like crazy and jump on different news link and try to link kevin and grace to it and put them down. She only say things about them if its an article about them. Just that there is a lot of grace these days. And it is true that kevin really is looking old these days next to her. And crazy wasn’t just bashing wcl height but also that he only got leanne because of money etc etc. That she is a gold digger and she will leave if he become broke. All fabrication of her imaginaton. So not the same at all imo.

@isay, Janet is not like freedalas. If you really think about it, 20+ gap is kind of gross. It is just Kevin still look young and handsome so it is less disturbing to see him dating Grace to some people. But i have to disagree with Janet on how Grace’s dad is better looking than Kevin.
