Kim Sae Ron’s Family Holds Press Conference

It has been more than a month since Korean actress Kim Sae Ron’s passing. Her suicide has been spiraling with revelations about her previous relationship with Queen of Tears’ Kim Soo Hyun. Blamed for heartlessly forcing undue financial pressure towards Kim Sae Ron which led to her eventual suicide, the actress’ family demanded an apology from the actor.

To counter Kim Soo Hyun’s initial denial that he had dated Kim Sae Ron, her family uploaded receipts to prove their stance. Although finally admitting to dating Kim Sae Ron briefly, Kim Soo Hyun denied dating her while she was a minor.

Hoping to put the back and forth to an end, Kim Sae Ron’s family held a press conference on March 27, publicly sharing evidence proving Kim Soo Hyun dated Kim Sae Ron when she was just 15 years old for six years. Chat records between Kim Sae Ron and Kim Soo Hyun were exposed from June 2016, when the late actress was only 15 years old.

Kim Soo Hyun: You? Do you think I miss you or not?

Kim Sae Ron: I don’t know! How can I know if you don’t say it?

Kim Soo Hyun: You are so cute when you ask this question

Kim Sae Ron: So do you miss me or not?

Kim Soo Hyun: I miss you so much, I miss you so much.

Kim Sae Ron: Why don’t you get up?

Kim Soo Hyun: Well, even if you kiss me, I don’t know.

Kim Sae Ron: No matter how many times I kiss you?

Kim Soo Hyun: When will I be able to hug you to sleep? I will sleep very soundly then.

Kim Sae Ron: I can approve of this.

After Kim Sae Ron sent several kissing emojis to Kim Soo Hyun, he replied, “It would be great if you actually kiss me later.”

Kim Sae Ron’s family also shared a letter that she wrote to Kim Soo Hyun, which proved the pair dated for six years and not the one year Kim Soo Hyun emphasized.  The letter stated:

“Hi, this is Kim Sae Ron. How are you? I hope to solve the misunderstanding between us, which is why I’m writing this letter. I can’t get a hold of anyone in your company. I’m very afraid of the lawsuit. Even so, I’m sorry for posting our photo [on social media]. It’s because I could not get a hold of anyone in your company. I’m sorry it negatively affected you.

“I’m very scared of the people from Gold Medalist. They make me feel uneasy. After I left the company, no one is picking up my phone call. I don’t mean to make you suffer. I truly wish you well. We dated for five or six years. You were my first and last love. I hope you will not avoid.

“You avoiding and ignoring me makes me feel like our time together meant nothing. Let’s both get along. At the very least, we should be able to support each other. Do you hate me that much? Why? If I end up not even having a way of getting this letter to you, then I will no longer interfere in your life. Please don’t hate me. I hope there will be a day when we can smile when we see each other.

“010-XXXX-XXXX is my telephone number. Please respond to me. No matter what, I can’t fully express what my heart is feeling. Hopefully your mailing address has not changed. Hopefully it’s you and not your brother who sees this letter. I will continue to support all your work endeavors and personal relationships. I wish you happiness. I hope our time together will not become a bad memory.”

When reporters asked what will happen next if Kim Soo Hyun continues to deny that he dated Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor, the family’s lawyer said, “Then it would be a sexual crime, if even this isn’t considered dating. An apology is one where the recipient is accepting of the apology.”
