Korean Drama “Flower of Evil” Thrills With Fast-paced Plot
Korean drama, Flower of Evil is keeping viewers on the edge of their seats with its fast-paced plot. With four episodes aired, viewers are already introduced to a plot filled with intrigue, secrets, and murder.
The drama opens with a look inside the seemingly perfect family with a glimpse of the life of Baek Hee Sung (played by Lee Jun Gi) and Cha Ji Won (played by Moon Chae Won) and their young daughter, Eun Ha. While Ji Won has a busy career as a detective, Hee Sung owns a metal shop and works hard to take care of his daughter. Despite Hee Sung’s flawless image as a husband and father, he is only putting up a façade for his wife and has a dark secret of his own.
One day, the couple is called to the daughter’s school after she is beaten by her classmate over a doll. While Hee Sung makes his crying daughter take full responsibility over the fight, he also advises her that it is also important to have a good image so no one will suspect her when something bad happens. In private, Hee Sung steals the doll and throws it to the trash.
It is later revealed that he is only assuming Hee Sung’s identity and his real name is Do Hyun Soo. Suspected in the murder of Yeonju City’s chief 18 years ago, he left the city and took on his new identity before authorities were able to track him down.
Hee Sung’s “parents” appear to be in the loop of his mysterious past and ask if he had developed feelings for Ji Won after Eun Ha was born. While he replies that he is able to manage, it remains a mystery why he married Ji Won and what are his real intentions.
A devoted wife who fully supports her husband’s business. Ji Won asks reporter Kim Moo Jin to help promote Hee Sung’s business. Coincidentally, Moo Jin is famed for writing articles about the Yeonju City murder case – the very same one Hyun Soo was implicated in.
When Moo Jin chances upon Hee Sung’s shop, he is stunned to see Hyun Soo. Calmly closing his shop, Hyun Soo takes Moo Jin to the basement with an axe in his hand and confessed, “Do you want to know what happened that year? I know who killed the chief. I killed him.”
Despite Hyun Soo’s confession, things are never as they appear in Flower of Evil. The suspenseful thriller is well received by viewers since its airing on tvN has continued to climb in ratings, with the latest episode recording 3.7 percent viewership.
