Law Ka Ying Removes Tumor in Liver

In 2005, Law Ka Ying (羅家英) stabilized his liver cancer through surgical removal of a portion of his liver. The surgery was successful and he did not need chemotherapy. However, during the Lunar New Year celebrations, he fell ill and many were anxious about his worsening liver condition.

In early 2014, Ka Ying was still in good health when he went on a trip to Japan with wife, Liza Wang (汪明荃). Returning to Hong Kong, Ka Ying felt sudden discomfort in his liver and secretly checked into a hospital. After discovering that he had a two-centimeter tumor in his liver, Ka Ying immediately opted for surgery. Ka Ying was under the care of liver transplant specialist, Dr. Fan Sheung Tat (范上達), and general surgery specialist, Dr. Kelvin Ng (吳國際).

Ka Ying was finally discharged from the hopsital in mid-February. Although he had dropped weight, he appeared to be in good health. “The doctors said my condition is quite good. It’s just that my movements are slow and I have to take my medication on a regular basis. I have a followup examination in two to three weeks!” Ka Ying added that chemotherapy was unnecessary, although he plans to rest at home and take a break from work in the next few months.

Liza said she is not worried about Ka Ying’s liver condition, since he is recovering well. Asked how she felt, Liza said, “Tired! But I will try my best as a wife to take care of my husband!”
