Lee Min Ho and Kim Min Ha’s “Pachinko” Releases Trailer
Written by Min Jin Lee, Pachinko is an epic family saga with a story that spans over four generations of a Korean family. The New York Times Bestseller, which was published in 2017, received much attention and was praised for its profound storyline and memorable characters. The book has been adapted into an Apple TV+ mini-series, starring Lee Min Ho, Kim Min Ha, and Oscar Best Supporting Actress Yoon Yeo Jung.
The daughter of a crippled fisherman Sunja (Kim Min Ha) falls for a wealthy stranger, Koh Hansu (Lee Min Ho). According to a Goodreads synopsis, Koh Hansu “promises her the world, but when she discovers she is pregnant — and that her lover is married — she refuses to be bought. Instead, she accepts an offer of marriage from a gentle, sickly minister passing through on his way to Japan. But her decision to abandon her home, and to reject her son’s powerful father, sets off a dramatic saga that will echo down through the generations.”
The production team of the series comprises of some of Hollywood’s most prized behind-the-scenes talent, including the screenwriter, Su Xiu, of the hit series, The Killing. Su Xiu expressed, “Pachinko is the kind of work that once you start creating, you become completed absorbed by it, and it will completely change your outlook on life. I am very honored to take part in this series. It has given me the opportunity to pay homage to my ancestors and heritage, and has also allowed me to work with a group of talented actors.”
Eight episodes in length, Pachinko will stream on Apple TV+ on March 25, 2022.
