Linda Chung and Raymond Lam in Reno for Thanksgiving Concert
Linda Chung Ka Yan and Raymond Lam Fung appeared in Reno on November 24,2010 for their press conference and to meet with their fans before their Thanksgiving Concert held on November 25,2010 in Reno. This must be a special and “sweet” scene not easily seen in Hong Kong as this long rumoured couple in romance has been the talk of the town for quite some time. The level of suspense is still stirring as Raymond continues to have other rumoured girl friends in his life! Most of the fans had great compliments of Linda being a natural beauty even with light make up on. Linda in a grayish patterned sweater simply looks pure and lovely just like “the girl next door” and Raymond with a baseball cap and glasses does look like “the boy next door” !
After their Reno concert, Raymond will be heading to Vancouver for his concert to be held in Vancouver on November 30,2010.

Lucky for fans to spend Thanksgiving holiday with Raymond and Linda.
I was there at the concert! Very disappointed that Linda & Ray only sang one song together (In Love With You) at the very end! To me, it seemed weird because they almost seemed to avoid looking at each other during the song. Their chemistry felt off to me… maybe because Raymond was sick. Overall, good concert, but at least they could have sang 2 or 3 songs together!
He was sick?
Not surprised by the limited number of dual performances. Ray’s got a packed schedule. Even if they had something together, they had no time to prepare for it.
Funn, Raymond had a cold, which he said he caught while filming in Beijing, and he kept having to drink water in between songs.
Pandamao, They could have at least also performed Sum Ling together, which shouldn’t require much rehearsal on their part.
It seemed like Linda performed longer than Ray during the concert. She sang a bunch of cover songs by other artists. I thought it was ironic that Raymond’s last song before the encore was Hello. He could have started the show with Hello instead of ending with it. Some videos are already up on youtube if anyone wants to check it out.
I was there for the concert too and a little diaappointed that they only sang 1 song together, but hope they can be together 4-ever…hope to see them next year again.
Does anyone has their press conference’s video?
Maybe they dont have much chemistry because they have no time to practice since Ray is busy filming with Jet Li in Beijing and Linda in HK.
Ray and Linda are lucky to make money overseas
i saw some of linda’s performances,i felt that she sang horrible for this concert, especially “Nobody” despite being classify as a best newcomer. She needs more practice and lessons before being label as a professional
i don’t think i would pay money to watch them sing
@kite..i would certainly go watch raymond and some other singer but not linda. Tickets for them were crazily expensive. I don’t think i ever seen an oversea asian performer charged $108 for a ticket and 168 for VIP. I know for his concerts in Canada, VIP seats are $200 each…Such a rip off
I was at the concert with binoculars and Linda lipsynced to Nobody. Even on the Youtube video, it shows she handed her mic away and when the music started, it was the wrong song. She kept waving her hands until the right song music came on, and then she danced while lipsyncing.
Dee – Jackie Cheung’s VIP tickets were like $288 in 2007 when he came to Las Vegas. He is in a superstar class by himself so he can command such rates.
Linda/Raymond concert was worth about the $68 I paid. Overall it was okay, but after watching Raymond’s HK concert DVDs, these mini-concerts cannot compare. I saw some videos of his Toronto concert and it was better than Reno. I think Linda took up too much time. They each sang 11 songs and it seemed like Linda spent more time on stage than Raymond.
@lynn..i did forget about jackie and its reasonable for him to charge audience that price! Linda lipsync and she still cannot pull it off. Do you know where i can watch raymonds concert dvd online?
I’m sorry; she lipsync and still manages to be out of tune? Seriously?
At least she held her microphone the right way up, unlike some youtube clips I saw of some not very famous people with their microphones upside down. That for sure is lipsync.
And Raymond? With cold and still manages to sound normal?
Linda can’t sing live so its not suprising for her to lipsync. I wouldn’t pay for her solo concert. Her concert look like it could be boring.
Funn – Linda could’ve recorded the song beforehand and lipsync to her own voice so that she’s more free to move onstage.
HK concerts are in big scale in Coliseum. That can’t compare to a small stage in somewhere called Reno. Coupled with poor Ray being sick and all so it’s logical the concert won’t be as good as his Coliseum concert of Lets Get Wet, Come 2 Me.
Linda really doesn’t have the voice to be a singer. She can’t sing live emaning that she can’t sing at all. Her album is edited and tuned to make her voice sound better. I’m sure that all of us have a better voice than she does. She is really pretty!!! However she is well known for tall, skinny and flat. She sand “nobody but Chu” it suppose to be nobody but you”. It was funny because she was running out of breathe. Both of their dances and backup dancers suck so bad. Koreans are superb at dancing. Chinese can dance like moving he arms around. That’s it!!!!!
Yeah I watch the YouTube video of them having a duet. They avoided each others eye contact. Linda avoided looking at Raymond lam’s eyes first. Raymond started sweating so he’ll be heal soon. Getting rid of the toxins. He had a napkin on his hand and held lindas hand. That’s juts full of bull crap.
I didn’t bother goingNto the concert because I knew it wasn’t worth it. I bet Raymond is picky with girls and Linda might be those type that messes around with rich guys. Just like the innocent looking Gillian chung. She’s not so innocent afterall.
Def…Jacky cheung’s concert is worth any price. He sings so good. His voice is incredible. I do love Ray lam from when he started tvb but he can only sing soft, low tone songs. He cant sing any crazy Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Jacky cheung’s, Leona Lewis type of music. His voice is good. But he really need a better stylists.
Thank you so much Jayne for sharing these news!!!! They are so current and improved since 2008. About prince William and Kate Middleton. They are so lucky. One was born a prince and end is about to be the next queen. So lucky!!!! Just have to say that.
I don’t agree with the rayda fans that keeps saying they love them so much together and hope they will be with each other forever. If I can have a piece of them I would. I’ll take Raymond for myself!!!!! He’s not for Linda!!!
I like Ray and Linda, but not as singers. I don’t think it’s worth the price to see them perform in a concert. I still don’t see them as a superstar like Jacky Cheung or Andy Lau if they were to have concerts here. In terms of ticket prices, although I would not pay to see them in concert, I think the prices are reasonable for a concert. I know Jay Chou is coming to the Bay Area at the end of December for his Era concert, and the cheapest ticket for balcony seats are $98! Yikes!
Jay chou and amei cheapest tickets were $98. I would definitely pay that to see Jacky cheung concert. Hopefully he can come next year
@Dee – Raymond’s HK concert clips are all available on Youtube. If you search Raymond Lam Let’s Get Wet Part 1,2,3, etc, someone posted the entire show in 10 minute increments. Come 2 Me is still bits and pieces, but IMO Let’s Get Wet was better.
The Reno concert was not sold out in the least, only about 70% full. Because of their rumored romance, concert promoters put them to perform together to get a bigger draw. Most of the fans were there to for Ray, but many guys around us were there to see Linda. If it was just either one of them alone, the concert ticket sales would be awful. The attendance varied from little babies/kids to old seniors walking with canes. There were 4 older ladies (in their 40s-50s) sitting next to us, who just sat there… no clapping or yelling at all. The audience was quite tame, hardly anyone sang along with Ray even tho he requested ppl sing with him. Even the backup singers had to start the encore chant before the crowd got started. The reception in Toronto seemed much warmer for Raymond than Reno.
Consider both Raymond and Linda have NO time to practice (compared to a professional singer who sings everyday) and the fact that Raymond is sick, I think they did a great job.
For those who complains — may be you should try to pick up these two artists’ crazy schedule, learn a dance sequence in a few days, then perform in front of fans who don’t know how to dance themselves but criticize!!!
For those Raymond and Linda’s basher — they look GREAT as an “onsreen couple”. This is a fact. Please hold your personal feelings and stop bashing the artists because your internal fear that your idol is being “stolen”. They have already stated MANY times that they are just friends and TVB co-workers. You have read too much into those make-up paparazzi news…. Just appreciate their on screen performance.
Although, I do agree that Raymond’s performance is awkward while singing “In love with you” with Linda. Why pick this sond to sing if one wants to avoid more rumors? There are tons of other songs including “Sum Ling” to make their fans happy. It makes Raymond look unprofessional.
For anyone watches the clip but don’t know these two artists, it looks as if the girl has to calm down the boy by holding his hand because he is mad at her for dating someone else while singing “In love with you” with him. Very weird!
Love Linda
Ray Sucks!
@MC – While I understand your comments, look at it from a consumer point of view. People are paying good money to see a good show, NOT something that is haphazardly rehearsed. As professional singers/artists, they need to take pride in their work and always perform at their best, regardless of their crazy schedules. No time to rehearse is no excuse. To be fair, I thought Raymond sang really well for someone who is sick, but their duet performance was lacking and it was a bad way to end the show, leaving people with a negative reaction. They could have performed a few more songs together instead of so many individual ones, especially by Linda herself.
Raymond sang In Love with You with Bernice last year and Ah Sah at his HK concert, so they probably picked the song cuz he is familiar with it. Not any reason to avoid it b/c of rumors. But his performance was the most awkward out of any of his previous ones… He avoided looking at Linda for most of the song except for a few quick glances before looking down or towards the audience. If I didn’t know about their rumors, I would think it was two very awkward ppl singing poorly together. So again, to end their concert that way just leaves a negative impression.
MC, I disagree with you on lowering expectations. If it is a free concert or a charity, maybe. BUt fans paid good money to see them and if their performance is gonna be subpar, might as well cancel and refund the money UNLESS the money is paid to see them and no hear them. If such is the case then create a fanclub, charge membership fees and just appear as you wish and shake hands and what nots.
Whilst sickness is a reason for subpar performance however I have heard great singers with cold and sore throat who could still rock the house. It is whether you can sing or not. All those fever, cold, and whatever, to justify out of tune or terrible singing is an excuse.
If your expectation is just to be close to them and see them, I think the ticket is worth the price. I remember going to Disneyland HK and the steep ticket price to enter the place and thinking I am paying this ticket not to walk on the grounds but to take pictures with Mickey Mouse and gang. It is a matter of perspective. I suppose see them as Bollywood stars making concerts; they lip sync but you pay to see them.
As for practice, how big is the concert? Is it like some stadium sized or just a small hall? Because again no time to practice is an excuse unless they’re singing with a live band or orchestra. If they’re singing to just music, hey, karaoke people! KARAOKE! Again it is eiter you can sing or you cant. Imagine Jacky Cheung, throw him a microphone, unplugged, turn down the volume of music, even with cold and fever and sore throat, that man can still sing better than a whole lot of people.
That being said I remember Terry Lin (of Ukelele), a great singer singing off tune once. So it happens BUT he managed to stay in tune for the rest of the song.
Again, it is about whether you can sing or not. But if they did sing live and they sang badly, kudos still because not many artistes will want to sing live, at all.
Crazy schedule is again not an excuse. Professional singers in HK have crazy schedules too. They don’t sit down and not do anything when there’s no concert. One professional singer I know of had at one time had to rush filming full day 5 days a week, host radio shows on weekends, produce his albums, write his songs, film commercials, attend functions, appear in TV to perform with his band, film music videos and avoid press detection all in the space of 1 single week. He still sang well.
I didn’t watch the videos of their performance but if they did their best within what they have to entertain the audience, no matter what size and budget the concert is, Raymond and Linda’s effort should be complimented. It’s not easy to perform in a sickness and when your vocals are questioned 🙂
I just watched some amateur clips of another artiste in some lower profile performances in the areas nearby this concert too, and I really give this artiste a handful credit for performing his heart out and producing overwhelming performance to entertain audience, and as I mentioned above it’s not an easy job to perform with sickness, or questionable vocals, or both, and still give a GOOD SHOW 🙂
These artistes don’t have time to practice when they are going to overseas performances. Most of the time they just jumped straight onto the plane right after their scene takes and jumped back down from the plane for the next scenes shooting. I don’t follow Linda and Raymond’s schedules much, but I do follow another artiste(s) who’s on the same “boat” with them and this is the case. So back to Raymond and Linda’s case, I’d still give them kudos for their effort to still put up a show and entertain their fans with their crazy schedules.
Don’t forget that they are also actor and actress, not only singers, so they are super busy, not only to prepare for this concert, but also get ready for upcoming drama series and movies
Again, it is about whether you can sing or not. But if they did sing live and they sang badly, kudos still because not many artistes will want to sing live, at all
Yes, live stage performances isn’t necessarily a vocal competition. A performance with lacking singing skills can still be a commendable and nice show.
@Raylan
“Don’t forget that they are also actor and actress, not only singers, so they are super busy, not only to prepare for this concert, but also get ready for upcoming drama series and movies”
Don’t forget, they are actors and actresses, their job is to act, not sing. If they are charging money for singing, I expect at the very least satisfactory results. When results are not meeting mediocre standards, then we have a problem here. The problem is – their objective was not to give a performance but to earn money and increase recognition.
Although there were individuals willing to pay for their appearance, there were also people who expected the same level of standard as their albums. I guess this mini concert proved one point, Linda’s got some great album producers.
Raymond Lam was sick and still did really well. He’s got a great singing voice but his only problem is – he needs more development. TVB got him all booked up, there’s no room for improvement in situations like this.
Linda should concentrate in one area, especially since she’s not great in any one area.
Just saw their press conference in Reno, they look like husband and wife. He He.. I know it won’t be but just can’t help but noticed how Raymond is the dominant/protective one steadily responding to question while Linda looks admiringly and speaking when asked. Liked the way he related the story of when he went through immigration and was asked if Linda was her girlfriend. It’s the way he told her the story and the way he looked at her and the way she giggled in response. Cute!
I agree he performed well considering he was sick. When he was wiping out his sweat and all that in the duet, I thought he might sneeze or something. To be sick and control your tune/vocals and trying not to cough/sneeze etc is really trying. Even if one person can manage it does not mean others are not worthy just because they can’t.
Not everyone is a Jacky Cheung or Teresa Teng in this world. Andy Lau was a lousy singer when he first started and his first album was a big flop, going against a great singer like Jacky Cheung in his era and yet getting the APAC Best HK singer Award 15 times shows that just being able to sing does not mean all.
No matter how poor the performance, so long as there are still people buying tickets for whatever reasons, means their value is still there. Raymond compared to many great actors or singers when they were his age, he has done pretty well. Hope he does not get complacent and continue to sharpen his saw and breakthrough. He’ll have an exciting future ahead.
The awkwardness in their duet could be him being sick but Linda did just as much avoiding. But another reason could be guilt. If you had no feelings for someone it’s easy to pretend you are in love cause it’s impossible for anything to happen but when you really are then you are more conscientious not to show it in public and more afraid to face it as it really touches you deep. Just an analogy.
Raymond was sick and still did great while Linda is healthy and did horrible in her singing and lipsync. This sure says something.
Linda needs to brush up on both her acting and singing skills.
Silver Legacy Casino gave me two $98 tickets. I gave the tickets to my wife and sister-in-law who are big Raymond fans. They said the concert was awesome and would definitely go again next year. Linda was on stage and talked a lot more than Raymond, however my wife did not mention anything about lipsyncing. I also when to Jacky’s 2007 concert in Vegas and I would say the higher prices are definitely worth it.
omg he’s sucks so ugly.
He’s not natural beauty just like all the korean stars too much plastics surgeries.
losers.
While Linda is not my favorite, I certainly think she’s not as bad as what many people always said. Haha. I’m starting on Twilight Investigation and she’s really cute in her lengmo character 🙂
‘Twilight Investigation’ started already? I didn’t know. Got to check it out. It’s one of my ‘look forward’ series.
I saw the preview, it looks funny. I’m glad WOng Hei looks like he’s back in the game!
‘Twilight Investigation’ started already? I didn’t know. Got to check it out. It’s one of my ‘look forward’ series
Twilight Investigation is taking over No Regrets :). It’s cute and funny to me so far. I love that they’re making fun of “囧”. Haha. Linda’s character is cute and I’m sensing a twist in her character too.
I went to the concert and I thought Ray was just not feeling so well and he probably wasn’t in the mood to do certain things. I thought Linda was better at interacting with the audience especially when she asked one guy to come up on stage and listen to her sing to him. She even put her arm around him while she sang and the audience was delighted by her antics. Ray sang well despite being sick, but he wasn’t funny at all… and he almost seemed a bit too serious to me.
Also, after the concert, people who had VIP passes were allowed to go into a small room with a professional photographer and take individual photos with Linda and Ray. At first, the USAsiaTour company wanted people to go in and take group photos even though we were promised individual photos. They told us that Raymond wasn’t feeling well and he might cancel the photo session because it’ll take too long. Luckily, they agreed to let us take individual photos with them, but I still thought that was really unprofessional. Also, we were also promised the Come 2 Me Beauty Live On Stage Deluxe Edition Concert DVD+CD SIGNED. But in the end, it wasn’t signed at all because Raymond was sick. Okay, I know the guy is sick, but ffs we freaking paid $100 for that VIP package and it didn’t even include our $128 tickets. I don’t think those concert tickets were worth $128 though because those backup singers, dancers, and the venue were terrible.
@Wth; What did you mean linda avoided rays eye contact?? Linda was looking at ray almost the whole time.. but ray was the one that kept looking away or the other direction.
@Masaharu.. I know.. shes not as bad as what ppl say… people are basing her singing skills on this concert… i would be hella nervous if i was her too!
i also watched twilight investigation.. been looking forward to this show for a year now.. and it didnt disappoint me at all. The first episode actually made me laugh out loud many time, linda, wong he, and raymond wong’s character are so funny. haha
@Candy:I watched the press con on YouTube and I agree with you! They looked like husband and wife as Linda was frequently glancing at Raymond. But I couldn’t really hear everything he was saying (esp the immigration part) because of the noise level.
I went to the Toronto concert and although I thought it was a tad bit too short, two thumbs up to Raymond for his performance. He sang really well and it was quite an interactive performance when he walked around the VIP area. Anyone else go to the Toronto concert?
The MC gave away prizes…apparently Raymond’s towel, undershirt, slippers and toothbrush…I don’t know why people were going crazy over them…hahaha.
@Coco
I recently went to Jeff Chang concert in Vegas and his ticket was only $48 even front row seat. It was a mini concert but he can still sing pretty well. I wasn’t disappointed
@Kite
Sounds like you got a good deal then. $128 for Section 1 Row 9 seats was just not worth it at the Reno Events Center. I think the best seats were $200, but at the time when we bought the tickets, they weren’t even available for purchase for some reason. We were only offered $200 tickets at the ticket window when we went to pick up our tickets…
Oh, come to think of it, I think our biggest annoyance with our seats was when fans from seats way back would rush to the front of the aisle to try to get a close glimpse of Ray or Linda when they got off the stage to greet the audience when they were singing. The Reno Events Center security personnel was limited and they couldn’t control the crowd at all so there would be a bunch of people hanging out in front aisle even after Ray or Linda were back on the stage. You couldn’t see $#!* for a while.
@ star
Linda is always nervous in live performances. But, she has been a singer for 2 years already and has 2 albums under her name. How long will she continue to be nervous? If she wants to be a professional singer, she has to find a way to stop or at least contain her nervousness so as to not affect her live performances.
blaming on nervousness is no excuse! raymond started singing around her time, maybe a little earlier but has anyone say he sucks cuz he was nervous? It’s because he can sing while linda cannot. She needs to focus on one area, not BOTH. And her role in TI is not hard to portray. I’m sure other actresses can pull off the “cuteness.” Linda’s acting of cuteness is bugging me..especially her super high-pitched annoying voice that we saw in CBML and this one! I’m not a Linda’s hater or a fan…Fans don’t be hating because i’m just stating my opinion!
@Kidd, she’s not nervous anymore if you watch her recent hongkong lives… maybe its the fact that its her first concert? I mean.. linda is a pretty shy person anyways.
@Dee; I think the high-pitched voice is for the role.. not because she can’t act. There were scenes where she used high-pitched and non high pitched when necessary. She didnt have that high-pitched in her other shows like moonlight resonance. But I admit, there IS something about the high-pitched voice… sometimes it makes her sound like she’s very nervous, but it’s not?
Anyways.. despite the negative stuff about linda’s singing or acting -.-..
Wow, everytime I look at pictures of Raymond and Linda, they look more like a couple.I hope they collaborate more, in functions or shows.
I love the move that they have a concert together, I actually think they’ve done it a bit too late. Good use of their rumours to generate buzz.
@Rol: They were asked at the press con by a guy if whether they will be like their friends, Ah Sa & co, and will post in weibo if they find their other half. Raymond then indicated that Linda should answer first and she tapped his arm and said the guy was asking you. This part was real sweet.
Linda then answered, “It depends on the situation” and said she didn’t know and as usual looked over to Raymond and who’s like a husband takes the lead provides a logical answer, “If you ask me I won’t deny but I will not purposely announce it”. Then he went on tell Linda about the time he went through immigration at the airport and was asked by the officer,” Is Chung Ka Yan your ‘Pin Gor’?” and paused to look at her reaction. Funny he couldn’t even say the word ‘girlfriend’. Then Linda asked,”He asked you?”, Raymond said,”Yes, he asked me” then he followed by saying to the officer, “I don’t know you ask her yourself”..presumably because she was also travelling together. Ha! Ha! Quite cute!
Flooded with exams, didn’t really think about it, but I didn’t expect Linda’s character in Twilight Investigations to be dead. lol
