“Lo and Behold” Actress Vicky Chan Charged with DUI
TVB breakout star Vicky Chan (陳偉琪) has been charged with DUI.
On Friday night, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Vicky collided with a taxi at the intersection of Yuk Sau Street and Sung Wo Road. It was only a minor collision, with scratches on the front bumpers of both cars. There were no injuries reported. Vicky’s assistant was in the passenger’s seat.
Smelling alcohol in the car, the 28-year-old was asked to perform a breathalyzer test by the police. The test yielded 79 micrograms, 3 times above the legal limit. She was arrested and brought to the police station for questioning.
The 54-year-old taxi driver, on the hand, passed the test.
Vicky was released early Saturday morning on bail. She did not comply to reporters’ requests for an interview, but responded through text that she is well. According to reports, Vicky is expected to report back to the police in late November.
Soon later Vicky uploaded a black image on Instagram, writing, “I’m sorry. I’ve made a mistake! I truly want to apologize to all of the people who cared for me and has been affected by this incident. I will deeply reflect and sincerely face the consequences. Thank you!” Netizens have left supportive comments on Vicky’s page.
Vicky is best known for her breakout performance in the TVB sitcom Come Home Love: Lo and Behold <愛·回家之開心速遞>, playing the role of Jenny. She was runner up at 2011’s Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant, and came in fifth place in 2013’s Miss Hong Kong Pageant, which was her introduction to the industry. Playing bit roles for years, it wasn’t until her 2017 appearance in Lo and Behold when Vicky finally broke out as a recognizable name.
