Louis Cheung Signs with Stephen Shiu’s HMV Digital

Louis Cheung (張繼聰) has officially signed with HMV Digital China Group! On August 15, HMV executive and producer Stephen Shiu (蕭定一) signed the deal with Louis in a press conference held at the Hong Kong Academy For Performing Arts, Louis’s alma mater.

At the press conference, Stephen bestowed a golden dumbbell on Louis, representing their union. Nick Cheung (張家輝), Dayo Wong (黃子華), Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼), Alex Fong (方力申), and Bob Lam (林盛斌) all filmed videos to congratulate Louis.

“I do not take it lightly when I say Louis can be Nick Cheung’s successor,” said Stephen. “I’ve seen how much effort he puts on his work. I’ve said this before, but when I sign an artist, I always look at their character. Louis is a great father, and he has a very strong sense of responsibility. If you’re responsible to your family, you would also have responsibility over your career and interpersonal relationships.”

According to various reports, Stephen signed Louis for at least HK$1 million. “Money is illusory,” said the actor. “It’s definitely one of the most generous contracts that I’ve signed, but money is never the biggest factor of choosing an agency. It’s the chemistry and the understanding between artist and agency.”
