Louis Koo is Hong Kong’s Highest Grossing Actor

Known for his passion and dedication to the Hong Kong film industry, Louis Koo (古天樂) is a prolific actor, producer, and also philanthropist. Although wearing many different hats, Louis is able to juggle and balance his many roles and find success in all of them.

In the entertainment industry for 29 years, Louis’ devotion, enthusiasm, and contributions to the Hong Kong film industry is undeniable. In addition to a large fan base, Louis is also loved and admired by many of his costars and colleagues for his genuine interest in uplifting the industry.

One of his most successful films in recent years is the crime thriller pentalogy consisting of Z Storm <Z風暴>, S Storm <S風暴>, L Storm <L風暴>, P Storm <P風暴>, and G Storm <G風暴>. The fifth and final installment, G Storm, was released in Hong Kong theaters merely six days before the pandemic shutdown. At the time, it temporarily received a box office earning of $6 million Hong Kong dollars. When it was recently released in China, the film grossed approximately HK$730 million. Louis, who participated in all five installments, has officially become the first Hong Kong actor with a cumulative box office earning of HK$10 billion.

In regards to his achievement as Hong Kong’s highest grossing actor, Louis’ good friends came forward with congratulatory messages.

Chilam Cheung (張智霖) expressed, “Louis is an actor whom I have collaborated with the most. I have witnessed his journey, and know that it was not an easy one.”

Jessica Hsuan (宣萱) said, “We have collaborated many times. He is not only a good partner, but he has also taught me many things.”

Fellow actor and good friend Kevin Cheng (鄭嘉穎) said, “He has finally reaped the benefits after many years of perseverance!”
