“Love on the Turquoise Land” Drops Trailer

Currently filming Love on the Turquoise Land <梟起青壤> with actor Chen Xingxu (陳星旭), the recently dropped trailer of C-drama goddess Dilraba Dilmurat‘s (迪麗熱巴) latest work garnered 9 million views in just one day.

Gaining popularity with a string of hits including Eternal Love <三生三世十里桃花>, The Long Ballad <長歌行> You Are My Glory <你是我的榮耀>, Dilraba’s upcoming drama Sword Rose <利劍玫瑰>, in which she pairs with Jin Shijia (金世佳), is set to be pitted against the sequel to Andy Yang Zi‘s (楊紫) dark horse hit drama Lost You Forever <長相思> this July, increasing the hype factor on the actress.

Receiving poor feedback with The Prosecution <公訴> and Legend of Anle <安樂傳>, Dilraba is going all out to regain favor by taking on wide-ranging roles across idol, modern and ancient dramas, with filming due to begin on a new fantasy project Love Beyond the Grave <慕胥辞> alongside Arthur Chen (陳飛宇) lined up for her.

Trailer Gets Fans All Excited

Adapted from a novel of the same name, Love on the Turquoise Land tells the story of the descendant of the secret “Tangled Army” dispatched by Qin dynasty emperor Qin Shi Huang. Nie Jiu Luo, a talented and beautiful sculptor on the surface is in fact Crazy Blade, who kills ground monsters to feed her sword. Meeting Yan Tuo, the two join forces to explore the secrets of the Tangled Army, and together uncover a world beyond their imagination, unravelling among others the secret to immortality.

The 90-second trailer opens by introducing the existence of “Ground Monsters” disguised as humans, which add a fantastical aura, with an element of horror to the plot, with netizens praising the special effects as impressive and promising. Showcasing both beauty and combat skills, Dilraba’s portrayal of the female assassin “Nie Jiu Luo” also won netizen approval with the sharp and stylish qualities of her gaze, movements, and sword-drawing actions.

One scene, where she casually picks up a bamboo stick to pin her hair while giving a fierce stare, is already being shared by fans.

Meanwhile, Chen Xingxu’s portrayal of the gentle rich young master Yan Tuo with his deep-toned voice is also raved, with two scenes of the classic “princess hug” showcasing the couple’s explosive chemistry already causing a frenzy among fans.

However, fans also found cause for criticism in the heavy use of skin-smoothing filters, which they remarked caused the actors’ skin tone to appear inconsistent in the trailer itself – something they hoped could be improved in the actual dramatic release.
