Mandy Wong Visits Ethnic Minority in Hunan China

Mandy Wong (黃智雯) earlier set off towards the southwestern area of Hunan, China to shoot TVB’s travel variety program, World’s Great Parties <過節>. In the mountainous province, the 32-year-old artist visited the Dong ethnic minority population and joined in on their “Hunan Dong Group Half-Year Celebration.” Mandy posed for photos while dressed in a traditional costume.

As someone who enjoys dancing, Mandy quickly mixed in with the crowd. Besides the costume, she wore a matching crown, necklace, bracelets, and accessories around her hips. When the action was over, she enjoyed an alcoholic drink that officially symbolized her as a guest of the celebration. Each family that attended the celebration generously brought a homemade dish to share with others. Mandy excitedly enjoyed a delicious large meal with over two hundred people.

Mandy also paid a visit to Shanshen Slope and joined the “June Sixth Song Festival” along with 30,000 people of Dong ethnicity. In terms of tradition, the festival is supposed to serve as a chance for the Dong population to mingle around and find a lover. Mandy followed the local women and sang love songs at muscular men. She laughed and shared that she met a handsome local man, but he was immediately grabbed away by another girl. However, Mandy soon befriended a foreign man and had a joyous time dancing with him.
