MC Jin and Mandy Wong to Win Most Improved Awards at TVB Anniversary?
At this year’s TVB Anniversary Awards, numerous contenders will be fighting for the Most Improved Actor and Actress Awards, resulting in a fierce battle! The hot favorite for the Most Improved Actress Award was Mandy Wong (黃智雯), who has been taking on increasingly important roles, and rap singer, MC Jin (歐陽靖) for the Most Improved Actress Award. The onscreen couple from Lives of Omission <潛行狙擊> hoped to win the Most Improved Awards together!
The popularity of Lives of Omission made MC Jin and Mandy Wong favorites in winning the Most Improved Awards. Both MC Jin and Mandy hoped that the other person will win the award. Although Mandy indicated that MC Jin possessed a wonderful sense of humor, he would turn very serious during actual filming. MC Jin praised Mandy for her good looks and acting talent, “She is very professional and cheerful! We worked together very well!”
Sire Ma Poses Fierce Competition
Mandy Wong joined the entertainment industry 4 years ago, after losing in the 2007 Miss Hong Kong competition. Since graduating from TVB acting class, Mandy has been given numerous performance opportunities. This year, Mandy delivered commendable performances in Lives of Omission, Ghetto Justice <怒火街頭>, and Men With No Shadows <不速之約>. Although she frequently portrayed good girl roles in the past, Mandy’s undercover agent character in Lives of Omission was more independent.
Reflecting on her days as cheerleader cheering her seniors [in school], Mandy promised herself that she will walk on the red carpet of an awards ceremony, indicating that her ambition was not low. “Although I only became successful this year, but I am very excited and look forward to it!” (Are you confident in winning an award?) “This year, my performance was quite good. However, the nominees are at the same level and entered the industry during the same time frame. We will support each other!” (Who is your biggest competitor?) “I followed Sire Ma’s (馬賽) performances. She participated in numerous series and has improved continuously.” Mandy indicated that she will cut her hair and get a tan to portray a female police officer [in her new series], hoping to change her image and not remain stagnant.
MC Jin Not a TVB Contracted Artist
MC Jin achieved fame in the United States through his rap music. He entered the household market through his performance in Lives of Omission. When MC Jin went outside, pedestrians called him by his character’s name in Lives of Omission. MC Jin Rap smiled and thanked lucky charm, “Laughing Sir”!
Upon learning that he will play an undercover police officer in Lives of Omission, MC Jin assessed the portrayal from different perspectives. “At first, I thought that I will die after the first ten episodes. When there was a reaction was positive, I was able to remain until the ending finale and asked to join the film cast. This was unexpected for me!”
MC Jin was the only non-contracted artist to be nominated in the upcoming TVB Anniversary Awards. He hoped this did not have an effect and possessed confidence in winning. At the same time, MC Jin did not forget to praise that each opponent was strong; winning will not be easy!

Jayne: There has been many rumors that Sire Ma will receive the Most Improved Artist this year. While MC Jin has name recognition, the fact that he is a non-contracted artist makes his chances lower…
I think Sire Ma will get the award. She is practically in every show I’ve seen thus far and in prominent roles.

I don’t know who Mandy Wong is (which role in MWNS?) but for a moment I thought I saw Nnadia Chan in the above picture.
She played Raymond’s sister in MWNS.
I think Sire Ma will win the Most Improved over her eventhough she’s the better actress. Sire Ma have been getting bigger and meatier roles than Mandy Wong.
MC Jin has high chance since he’s popular in LOO. But, Jazz is also a strong contender.
Oh that one! Never even noticed her. Sire Ma can act, but she is very very raw. Needs more time to get better but got potential. So I think she will win.
Most improved; frankly that cursed series I noticed Joel’s performance. He should get the award. Jazz I want him to win. After all he was stephen chow’s protege. But who did I name should win? Can’t remember…
I really hope Jazz can win even though I fear TVB will give it to MC. MC is a nice guy but I don’t see much acting from him at all. Without knowing him irl, he gives off the vibe that he’s just portraying himself.
Yes I always see Nnadia Chan when I look at Mandy Wong. I think the first time I saw her was as sister to Myolie Wu in “A chip off the old Block”
I have a feeling that Mandy Wong will not rise to the 1st line actress but remain as dark horse. While Sire will rose and upgrade to 1st line when she gets older.
Mandy is improving in her acting I think she should get the award more than Sire should…her acting hasn’t improved to me at all. As for MC Jin even getting nominated is ridiculous!! he’s been in what? one/two series and it’s “improvement”? there is other much deserving actors than him in tvb….
It’s not just for series. Amigo previously won for hosting. So I think MC Jin is definitely qualified. I was pleasantly surprised that he acts quite natural in LoO.
I’m rooting for Mandy although I think Sire might win. For the guys, I’m rooting for Jazz Lam!

Somehow, I’ve gotten to like Mandy’s acting. I’ve seen her in Home Troopers, Ghetto Justice and Men With No Shadows and she was good in all. Actually saw Sire Ma in only MWNS but she did not seem to impress me that much. I may be wrong. So my vote goes to Mandy and as for Jazz, I too hope he wins.
Like you, I like Mandy’s acting. I don’t like Sire Ma that much. I think TVB is over promoted her. Her acting is really boring.
I think she and Mandy should switch role in MWNS. She should be the one laying in the hospital bed without acting because I hate her whenever she appears on the screen.

I don’t think it’s wooden, it’s just that he’s potraying himself. He need to try a role different than the way he carried himseld offscreen.
Mandy Wong somehow really knows how to make herself look old. She is a pretty girl with unique beauty, why she wants to look older than her age?
I don’t have a problem with Sire or Mandy’s victory. Mandy has a normal year in my opinion while Sire shined more. Acting, Mandy is still better than Sire but improvement, Sire jumped while Mandy kinda stayed remain.
For MC Jin, it’s ok for him to win. Either him or anyone in the most improve list, except Matt Yeung. Although I quite like Matt Yeung, I don’t watch him in any noticable role. Uhm, Kidd once mentioned of TOT but I dun watch it then no comment.
Changing one’s hairstyle and clothing frequent is quite common among celebrities. Mandy is adjusting her image to her role in the police drama with Niki, perhaps she will change back to a younger look later?
I agree with you. Although Mandy is a natural actress, but like you said she has stayed in the same level while Sire has improved quite a bit since MWNS, which was one of her first series, to CORH. (Spoilers-Warning) Her last scene with Myolie and Joel, when she was trying to hide her sadness after finding out about their affair was well done. It almost made me tear. And the name of the award ‘Most Improved Award’ says it all, I think it should go to the one who has improved the most. So it doesn’t necessarily have to go to the better actress.
Out of the butch of new actresses I support Mandy the most. Love her in GJ and A chip off the old Block (the first movie I saw her in) very good performance.
i support mandy the most, shes the better out of all the new actresses. Sire Ma is indeed in many dramas, but her acting still requires more effect, i find her acting not natural..sometimes it even makes me squirm since its very forced… I believe thats shes doing better than most new actresses, but I think Mandy deserves it more
I support Mandy more too but Sire Ma will give Mandy a competition. Mandy’s acting is better, but Sire is in so many series and I think TVB is promoting her.
I think it would be a joke if MC JIN wins the Most Improved Award. I thought he did a good job considering it was his first TVB series. I’m not knocking his acting. But there’s probably many other actors nominated that deserve the award more than he does. He seems to be favored quite a bit by TVB (simply look at all the shows he gets to host with virtually NO prior experience). Nobody else gets as many opportunities as he does.
I prefer Alex Lam and Mandy to win. MJ Jin is fun to watch in LOO but after watching more of him off screen I thought he’s just playing himself.
I agree with you. If Alex (Jazz) Lam not going to get an award this year, I will say he is a contender next year for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ IMO.
MC Jin has a higher chance to win, he lots of good deals with TVB, probably get the younger audience into TVB minds.
